We were lucky to catch up with Author Lcb recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Author, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my mom. She started her adult life in a really challenging situation, but she refused to let that define her. Growing up, I watched her work tirelessly to create the life she wanted for herself and for me. No matter how difficult things got, or whether she had support from others, she never gave up. She had a clear vision for what she wanted to achieve, and she put in the hard work to make it happen. Seeing her determination and resilience firsthand taught me the value of persistence, self-reliance, and never settling for less than you deserve. My work ethic is rooted in her example, and I carry those lessons with me every day.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As an author, I create worlds filled with magic, mystery, and complex characters that invite readers to escape into the pages and lose themselves in the stories I craft. Writing allows me to explore universal themes like resilience, love, and self-discovery while weaving them into fantastical settings or gripping tales that feel alive.
What excites me most is the connection my stories create—not just between me and my readers, but between readers and the characters they come to love. There’s something truly special about hearing how a moment or a line resonated deeply with someone or transported them to another world.
Through my brand, Author LCB Books, I aim to provide readers with a mix of immersive novels and shorter, thrilling stories, including those featured on my Substack. I focus on creating works that entertain, inspire, and make people think. My writing reflects my passion for storytelling, and I hope my readers always feel that energy in the words I share.
For me, the most rewarding part is knowing that something I’ve written has brought joy, excitement, or even a moment of solace to someone’s day. That connection is what keeps me going, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my work with the world.
So far I have several books self-published. My debut, Pages of Destiny: Whispers of the Void, remains close to my heart, as I began writing its story back in middle school. Its sequel, The Heart of Aetheria, is out as well. I released the first book of a new Middle Grades/Young Adult series on January 13th called Mark of the Moon and I also have an Adult Dark Fantasy Romance coming out in June this year.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Resilience:
One of the most impactful qualities in my journey has been resilience. Writing, like any creative endeavor, comes with challenges—rejection, self-doubt, and moments of creative drought. Learning to push through those tough times, adapt, and keep going has been essential. For those starting out, I’d say embrace failure as a stepping stone. View it not as a stop sign but as an opportunity to grow. Celebrate small victories along the way to keep your momentum.
2. Curiosity and Lifelong Learning:
Having a curious mind and a desire to keep learning has made a huge difference in my ability to improve my craft and expand my horizons. Whether it’s exploring new genres, studying storytelling techniques, or diving into historical or cultural research for a project, curiosity fuels growth. My advice is to always be a student. Read widely, observe the world around you, and seek inspiration everywhere. Be open to feedback—it’s one of the most valuable tools for learning.
3. Time Management and Discipline:
Balancing creativity with consistency has been a game-changer. Writing books, especially alongside other responsibilities, requires careful time management and the discipline to stick to goals, even when motivation wanes. For those starting out, create a routine that works for you. Whether it’s writing a few hundred words a day or dedicating weekends to your passion, find a rhythm and stick to it. I also bribe myself with chocolate. Treat your goals like promises to yourself—they’re worth keeping.
Advice:
Start by focusing on the journey rather than the destination. It’s easy to get caught up in dreams of success, but the most rewarding moments often come from the process of creating. Surround yourself with supportive people who inspire you, and don’t be afraid to take risks. Every small step you take builds the foundation for something greater.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past year, my biggest area of growth has been learning to accept myself and embrace vulnerability. For a long time, I held back from putting myself out there, worried about judgment or failure. But over the past 12 months, I’ve realized that the things that truly bring me joy—like my art and writing—are worth the risk.
Accepting myself has been a transformative journey. It’s meant letting go of the fear of not being ‘perfect’ and instead focusing on the fulfillment that comes from creating and sharing my work. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone by sharing my stories more openly and connecting with others who resonate with my creative voice. It hasn’t always been easy, but the growth I’ve experienced—both personally and professionally—has been incredibly rewarding.
Taking the leap to pursue my passions fully has taught me that there’s power in showing up as your authentic self. It’s also shown me that the most meaningful connections and opportunities often come when we let ourselves be seen. This year has been about choosing joy, embracing risk, and discovering how much stronger and more capable I am than I once believed.
