We recently connected with Amanda Nigg and have shared our conversation below.
Amanda, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Resilience, for me, is a muscle I’ve built through life’s unexpected challenges. Growing up in a small town in western Nebraska, I learned early on that when life throws you curveballs, you face them head-on. But it wasn’t until I married into a 5th-generation farm family in South Dakota that I truly understood the depth of resilience.
Farm life is unpredictable—one storm can undo months of work, and yet, every season, we start again. That mindset has bled into every aspect of my life. One of the biggest tests of my resilience came when we lost our home to a fire. In the ashes of that moment, I could’ve given in to despair. Instead, I chose to rebuild—not just a house but a stronger version of myself.
Around the same time, COVID-19 turned the world upside down. With gyms closed and stress levels skyrocketing in the agricultural community, I realized I needed to pivot. I took my fitness coaching online and launched Farm Fit Training to help others find strength, both physically and mentally, during uncertain times.
I’ve learned that resilience doesn’t mean being unshaken—it means acknowledging the hard moments and rising anyway. It’s knowing life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. I get my resilience from the generations of farmers before me, the community I serve, and my two boys, who remind me daily to lead by example.
Resilience isn’t just something I have—it’s something I practice every day.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m Amanda Nigg, also known as FarmFitMomma, and I’m the founder of Farm Fit Training, a fitness and wellness program tailored specifically for individuals in agriculture and rural communities. My journey started as a passion for health and fitness, but it truly took shape during some of the toughest times in my life—losing our home to a fire and navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences lit a fire in me to create something meaningful that could serve the unique needs of the agricultural community.
Farm Fit Training is all about providing practical, at-home fitness solutions for people who don’t have the luxury of gym access due to their location or lifestyle. The agriculture industry is often overlooked in the fitness space, yet it’s one of the most physically demanding fields. I aim to fill that gap by offering 15–25 minute workouts that fit into even the busiest schedules, along with nutrition guidance and mental health support to help individuals thrive, not just survive.
What makes Farm Fit Training so special is that it’s designed with the agricultural lifestyle in mind. From our hybrid functional training programs to meal planning that works for families on a budget, everything is rooted in practicality. I also bring a deep understanding of rural life, being married to a 5th-generation farmer and raising our two boys on a 115-year-old farm. This allows me to connect with my community on a personal level.
One of the most exciting things happening right now is the launch of our 14-Day Calisthenics Program and our FarmFit Method: Nutrition Program, both of which are designed to provide incredible value while introducing people to the benefits of Farm Fit Training. Additionally, we’ve recently restructured our Legacy Membership to make it more inclusive, offering everything from exclusive workouts to community challenges and direct coaching support.
At the heart of everything I do is the mission to transform lives. I want people to know that it’s possible to lose fat, build muscle, and improve mental health without sacrificing time with family or the farm. Whether you’re new to fitness or looking to enhance your current routine, Farm Fit Training is here to meet you where you are and help you create a sustainable, healthy lifestyle.
For anyone curious about how to get started, I encourage you to check out the free resources on my website or take our Farm Fit Quiz to find the program that’s right for you. Let’s redefine what it means to be fit for life on the farm!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, there are three key qualities and skills that have had the biggest impact: resilience, adaptability, and understanding the value of community.
1️⃣ Resilience
Life throws curveballs, and resilience is what keeps you moving forward, no matter how hard the hits come. Losing my home to a fire was a defining moment—it taught me that even in the face of devastation, I had the power to rebuild. Resilience isn’t about never falling; it’s about rising every single time you do.
Advice: Build resilience by embracing challenges instead of avoiding them. Take small steps out of your comfort zone daily, and remind yourself that failure is part of growth. Journaling, seeking mentorship, or reflecting on past struggles can also help you realize how strong you truly are.
2️⃣ Adaptability
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I pivoted my fitness coaching to an online platform and created Farm Fit Training. That shift was born out of necessity but flourished because I was willing to adapt and think creatively. The ability to evolve with circumstances has been a game-changer, both personally and professionally.
Advice: Stay curious and open to learning new things. Technology, trends, and circumstances change quickly—embracing lifelong learning will keep you adaptable. Ask yourself, “How can I grow from this?” rather than resisting change.
3️⃣ Community Connection
Understanding the importance of community has been foundational for me. As someone rooted in agriculture, I know how often rural communities are overlooked. By creating a space where people in agriculture can find support, I’ve been able to foster meaningful connections that extend far beyond fitness.
Advice: Find or build your community—it’s one of the best ways to stay motivated and inspired. Whether it’s a mastermind group, online forum, or local meetups, being surrounded by like-minded individuals will help you grow. And don’t be afraid to lean on your network or offer support to others; relationships are a two-way street.
For those early in their journey, my biggest piece of advice is to start where you are. Focus on cultivating these qualities one step at a time and be patient with yourself. Growth is a process, and the lessons you learn along the way will shape your future success.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone in the agricultural community who is ready to take control of their physical and mental health. They’re hardworking, determined, and often used to putting others before themselves—whether it’s family, crops, or livestock. They don’t need to be fitness experts or already in shape; they just need to be open to learning and willing to prioritize themselves for 15–25 minutes a day.
What truly makes someone ideal is their commitment to consistency over perfection. Life in agriculture can be unpredictable—weather, equipment breakdowns, or long days in the field—but my best clients don’t let those challenges stop them. They’re the ones who think, “What can I do today?” instead of focusing on what’s out of their control.
Another key characteristic is curiosity. I love working with people who want to learn—not just about workouts, but about how their nutrition, habits, and mindset all play a role in their overall health. They’re not looking for a quick fix; they’re building a sustainable lifestyle.
Lastly, my ideal client values community. Whether it’s cheering each other on in the Farm Fit Training app or sharing their wins in our group chats, they’re invested in more than just their own journey. They lift others up and celebrate every small victory, creating a ripple effect of positivity and encouragement.
If you’re someone who’s ready to show up for yourself, even on the hard days, and embrace progress over perfection, you’re my kind of person. Together, we can create lasting results that go beyond just fitness—it’s about thriving in every area of life.
