We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elise Tauber a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I started in real estate back in the early 2000 and enjoyed selling real estate but it wasn’t until I opened my own real estate brokerage and became a broker that I really found my calling. Getting to mentor agents of all experience levels and unique talents and get to watch them become extremely successful agents has been a plus. I have a wonderful sales team myself that focuses on helping investors start and grow their portfolios. There is immense joy helping those find a home to live in but take it a step further and achieve their dreams of investing in Real Estate.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the most important quality for anyone getting into this or any entrepreneurial field is self discipline. You have to be your own boss and that means holding yourself to a standard from the hours you work to the effort you put in. I also think being open minded to ideas is very important. I have learned that brilliant ideas come everywhere. New and more seasoned agents, others in the industry, and sometimes, even random discussions with those outside the industry. Lastly, determination. I hear a lot of people say they want to get into real estate or their own business and have a plan A and a plan B, etc. Those people don’t usually do as well as those who only have a plan A and are determined to make it work.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
My husband, who has been with me the last 9 years of my real estate journey, has played an absolutely critical role in my development as a business owner and as a real estate agent. When we met he was an Army Vet and a construction worker and had no real insight on the real estate world. He was always pushing me to be better, work more efficiently, and overall create a business and brand I’m proud of. A few years ago he got his real estate license as well and together we now own our own construction company. Now that he understands the business even more he is always pushing me to think outside the box, unemotionally evaluate situations, and just do my best.
