Meet Laura Shepard

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laura Shepard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Laura, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

I’d say my optimism is something I’ve learned and nurtured over time. I’ve realized there’s no sense in stressing over things we can’t control because, more often than not, everything tends to work out in the end.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a wedding and lifestyle photographer, and I absolutely love what I do! Every wedding and photo shoot is unique and special, and I feel so privileged to capture incredible moments for my clients.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

When I think about three important things I’ve learned in my industry, the first is that everyone is unique, and everyone has a story. I love discovering a little piece of who they are by capturing their interactions with friends and loved ones—it’s such a privilege to witness those authentic connections. Another thing I’ve learned is how much I genuinely enjoy getting to know people from all walks of life. I appreciate the beauty in diversity, and I’ve realized I can learn something valuable from every single person I meet. Finally, I’ve discovered that I’m capable of pushing myself to learn new skills and grow in ways I didn’t think possible. It’s so rewarding to see what I can achieve when I step out of my comfort zone!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was show me, through their example, how to put each other first and truly love your spouse. They were such incredible role models, and I’m forever grateful for that.
