We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lee Bolden a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lee , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I’ve been able to develop my self confidence and self esteem from years of trial and error. Since I was very young I’ve always felt and acted different than most kids. I always went against the grain but would be told having my own opinion of standing firm in what I believe in was wrong. As I got older, I realized who I am and the qualities I possess make me unique, and could take me far in anything I do. I started practicing affirmations and manifestation to boost my confidence and strengthen my beliefs. Ever since, things have been working out for me. I’ve been able to create content as a TikTok content creator while maintaining who I am and not “selling out”

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a up and coming content creator specializing in engaging talking videos. I started out serving tables in Maryland, then took a chance in moving to LA to chase my dream of becoming a business owner. I worked as a door to door salesman for a few years, saved up enough money and started my own sales company. Shortly after, COVID happened and I had to shut down operations. I felt so destroyed, so lost. Like everything I’ve worked so hard for was snatched beneath me. During the pandemic I found TikTok and was skeptical. I decided to give it a shot and now have over 200,000 followers that just like to hear me talk. It’s opened alot of doors for me and has helped me in accomplishing some of the things I’ve always wanted to do. I love being creative, and TikTok gives me that opportunity. My grandma would always tell me as a child, I have a gift of gab and would one day be successful with it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The 3 skills/qualities I’d focus on to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment would be resilience, optimism, and the ability to network. You will be faced with alot of challenges. Often times you will have negative thoughts, and people around you may affirm those. You have to remain resilient and remove anything in your life not serving your best interest. With optimism, you just have to always know that better things will come. When one door closes, another always opens. It’s never too late to start over or do something different. We have the ability to create in this life, so a new opportunity can always be created no matter the circumstance. The ability to network is crucial. I’ve always stood beside it’s not about what you know, but who you know. If you are able to utilize your greatest asset (you) to leverage positive opportunities, you should. If you see people that have what you want, or are doing what you’d want to do, don’t be afraid to ask how they got there. Networking has been key for me, and is what got me in Los Angeles in the first place.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Some advice if give is to surround yourself with people that believe in you and your vision. Affirm positively how you feel about yourself daily. Remove anything in your life that’s holding you back, and remember every setback is only a setup for something greater.
My biggest area of growth/improvement in the past 12 months has been my self worth. I struggled for years with really valuing myself, and because of that I’ve always gotten the short end of the stick. In relationships, friendships, and even business partnerships. I’ve learned to fully rely on myself and not attach myself to any outcome. I always hope and strive for the best, while strategically preparing for the worst. This has allowed me to grow and love myself even deeper.
