We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bailey Elease. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bailey below.
Bailey, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Growing up, my mother always told me the same thing, no matter how tough the day: “Smile.” I watched her make a way out of no way, time and time again. Through heartbreak, grief, and challenges, she showed me what strength looked like.
As I got older, her transparency about our struggles became more of the norm, and I’m forever grateful for that honesty. I saw her fight to pay bills and keep food on the table, but it was when I became her caregiver during her health battles that I truly witnessed her greatest resilience. We became a team—she was the fighter, and I was the coach.
We faced endless “no’s,” jumped through countless hoops for help, and navigated tough circumstances, yet she never folded, even on the hardest days. She taught me that resilience comes from honesty—with yourself and with others. To be resilient is to acknowledge your circumstances and push forward, no matter what.
Since her passing, I’ve had to navigate life without her, and my resilience is tested daily. I always remember her lesson to keep going—and to always, always smile.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a photographer specializing in personal branding and traditional portraiture, with over 10 years of experience behind the camera. Photography has always been my way of helping people see the beauty in themselves and the world around them. In January 2024, I officially became an LLC, launching Bare Your Skin Photography as a full-fledged business. Around the same time, I introduced Project Nobound, my personal branding program that has become the cornerstone of my work.
Project Nobound began as a service for branding photoshoots, focusing on capturing authentic, high-quality images that help entrepreneurs and professionals present their brands confidently. As I continued to build I wanted to revamp my services, I realized there was a need for additional resources to support my clients vision. What started as branding photoshoots quickly expanded into a comprehensive program that includes services for rebranding like web design and logo creation for example. It’s about offering a complete package that addresses not just the visual side of a brand but also the strategy behind it.
What excites me most about this work is the transformation I see in my clients.
My company is centered around boundless creativity allowing clients to reimagine themselves and or their brands without limitations. I love helping people articulate their story and vision, then watching it come to life through visuals and design. Whether it’s creating a cohesive brand identity, updating their website to reflect their growth, or simply capturing the essence of who they are in a portrait session, my goal is always to empower them to step into their full potential.
Authenticity is the foundation of everything I do, from my interactions with clients to the final edits of their images. I believe that when people feel seen and valued, they show up more confidently in their personal and professional lives. That’s why every part of the experience—whether it’s a branding shoot, consultation, or design project—is tailored to their unique needs and aspirations.
What makes Bare Your Skin Photography and Project Nobound truly special is the focus on creating a partnership. It’s not just about delivering photos or design work—it’s about providing tools and support that help clients grow and thrive long after our sessions are over. Whether it’s offering advice on how to use their branding materials effectively, designing a website that works for their goals, or simply being a sounding board for their ideas, I’m here to help them navigate their journey with confidence.
As I look to the future, I’m excited to continue expanding my offerings and exploring new ways to serve my clients. I want Project Nobound to be a creative hub where entrepreneurs can access everything they need to build their brand, from strategic visuals to actionable resources. For me, photography isn’t just a career—it’s a way to connect, inspire, and help others realize the boundless possibilities within themselves.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities on my journey have been grace, creativity, and resilience:
Grace:
No journey is perfect. Whether you’re starting a business, learning a new skill, or going to school, you’re going to stumble. Failures aren’t just about what you lack—they teach you how to improve and make room for growth. Grace is about letting go of perfection.
It’s okay to say, “I messed up, but I’ll do better next time.” Show up for yourself, acknowledge the effort you’re putting in, and allow room for mistakes. Giving yourself grace helps you move forward, not stay stuck.
Creativity:
Creativity is the heartbeat of problem-solving. It’s how you generate ideas, make plans, and bring visions to life. Your creativity reflects your uniqueness, so let it shine. If you ever feel stuck, take a break—it’s okay to step away and return when you’re refreshed. Creativity thrives when we give ourselves space to recharge.
Resilience:
Along the way, you’ll face roadblocks and hear plenty of “no’s,” but every “no” leads you closer to the right “yes.” Take the punches as they come, but don’t stay down for too long. With a solid foundation, you’ll always have something to stand on.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was not baby me. They taught me lessons in their own unique ways. My mom taught me patience, self-expression, and how to love and show up for others. My dad, on the other hand, taught me how to be strong-willed, stand firm in my beliefs, and get things done effectively.
They always showed up for me—supporting every goal I set as long as I committed to it. My mom gifted me my first film camera in college, and my dad followed up a year later with my first digital camera. They attended every art show and exhibition, spreading the word about my work and always reminding me how proud they were. They also encouraged me to keep going, reminding me that the job wasn’t done yet.
Because of their support, I completed three degrees and launched my LLC, Bare Your Skin Photography. My company is built on the foundation of the strength, love, and dedication my parents instilled in me. Those lessons are present in everything I do—from how I interact with clients to how I run my business. My roots continue to drive me forward and inspire me to create and build a legacy.
