Meet Bradley Corso

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bradley Corso. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with bradley below.

Hi Bradley, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

for me, optimism isn’t pretty or happy sunshine. optimism is an absolute truth in relation to human potential. the future will come, and if we are able and willing, the weight of our choices can bring us truly outstanding things.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

i’m someone who balances my career and my creative outlets. by day, i am an artisan sculptor at bollinger atelier in tempe, az. i’m project supervisor and head mold maker for the foundry studio where we make bronze sculpture for various clients. as an artisan, i utilize my sculpture skills to benefit the project at hand regardless of my own personal style or taste (a task some may find rather difficult). in this space, an unbiased opinion gets you further than anything else. practicing putting oneself aside creatively is a major strength of mine.

as an artist/creative human, i find myself currently making a fair amount of craft based works like silver rings and belt buckles as well as playing guitar and doing lead vocals in my band, sunthrown.

that’s about all i can squeeze into 24 hours.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

in retrospect, the first thing would be that no matter how huge an idea might be in my head i’m always willing to change, or if needed, to completely abandon or destroy something. some people may really hate what i’m about to say next, but art isn’t always indispensable and art with a capital A is very much a commodified object. HOWEVER, it is culturally significant and impactful. for this reason it is so very important to make choices with the utmost appreciation for your message and the materials used to convey that message.

as for skills, i value my ability to observe, compare, and react. sometimes this process happens in a split second and other times over the course of however long it takes to make something well.

as for knowledge, while i love consuming new information as much as possible, i strongly value doing one or two things really well. culturally we overvalue being a jack of all trades and a master of none. trusting other people to do something better than you can go a long long way (and yes i realize that this is the artisan in me speaking LOL). but the satisfaction of being absolutely on top of my own shit is where it’s at for me.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

the most helpful thing in my life are my colleagues and friends. many of us don’t often address how powerful a friendship can be and how much it keeps us alive and thriving even when we’re absolutely gutted inside. seeing people i love succeed is a success for me and always drives me to want to accomplish something to contribute to the conversation. there’s always a time when i need someone else’s skill set to help me through a project. as a musician, the synergy of my bandmates is everything as well
