Meet Emelly Velasco

We recently connected with Emelly Velasco and have shared our conversation below.

Emelly, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

Comes from commitment to good habits. Sometimes in the Art World and Creatieve environment is a misconception of habits and discipline.
In my experience, the greatest treasures often emerge from pain, not as a poetic notion, but as the raw truth of transformation— one gets to decide the perception of every situation, where struggle carves out strength and hardship shapes resilience.
My self-discipline comes from my acceptance of my chaos and my order.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Exploring the fundamental forces of polarity that shape the universe, feminine energy and masculine energy in one.
I’ve been working with symbols and brands for over a decade, and as an writer/speaker since 2018 where I launched my first book Emprendearte a where I wrote about the process of creating a solid presence with art and brands in creative industries.
When I moved to Europe my artistic research move me through two lines of work:
LA FEMMALE with black and white as central elements (POLARITEIT EXPERIENCE) where I emphasize the importance of balance and integration in a spiritual, visual, and intellectual journey to the heart of universal duality.
RED ASTRAL where in red I research manifestation of pure, raw and spiritual wisdom of the feminine energy, the suprematism of a woman let’s say.

My work moved me from México to Center America and when my artwork flew to Europe I knew it was a moment to move and work in Europe, now I have a presence in the UK, France, Italy, and The Netherlands. I am an artist, a symbol designer, author and speaker.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

This is a good question, I love to look our for virtues and hold back urges; looking back 11 years in time the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are:
• Resilience,
• Cultural awareness,
• Courage
Being fearless embrace of my raw process of creativity, fearless to reject everything that feels off is something my father teaches me with experience and my mother with her life.

The ability to adapt and persevere is how I see resilience (it is super painful) in the face of challenges has been my cornerstone. In the creative world, rejections, snobs, and egocentric persons are inevitable, but resilience allows you to see failures as stepping stones rather than roadblocks.

I recommend nurturing resilience by finding a strong “why” behind your work. When your purpose is clear, you can endure almost anything.

Cultural Awareness: My art is deeply rooted in my heritage, and understanding the richness of my cultural background has helped me create with authenticity. Non-Judgement allows me to learn from all cultures, nations, religions and theories. I am a fast learner.

Good habits and taking risks helped me to be outside of comfort zones. I never wait for perfection.
I love t to experiment, fail, and create unapologetically.

The magic often lies in the unexpected.

My advice is this: stay curious, stay disciplined, and above all, stay true to yourself. Growth is a process, and each step, whether smooth or turbulent, will shape you into the artist and individual you are meant to become.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

I´m allowing my self to expand my feminine experience in a VUCA world, accepting help and guidance from mentors whilst I keep my artistic research, my values and authenticity. I hope one day I can inspire others to become their better version of themselves.
