Meet Darrell Day

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Darrell Day. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Darrell, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
The confidence that we exhibit in our business is rooted in the way we were raised… To work hard and to be proud of the work you’re doing. My wife does an excellent job making incredible ice cream and I do a pretty good job with all the live entertainment, the marketing, And overall connecting with our community. We have an excellent reputation in the community because we are proud of our business and how we serve our community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Lisa and I are the owners of Mystic Ice Cream… a pop culture hippy joint with live entertainment and game shows! We are in Central Florida with four shops in a truck. We bought the business five years ago and expanded from one shop to four with the addition of a truck during that time… Working our way through Covid. Our ice cream is all homemade and we offer over 30 flavors half of them have a little bit of alcohol in addition, we offer four different dairy free products made with Pea protein. We’ve been selected the best Ice Cream in lake and Sumter County four years in a row. Lisa‘s background is in nursing and my background is in opera and musical theater. Today I’m a composer and pianist. In addition to all of that… Lisa loves to sew and my avocation is painting..

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Lisa and I bring several different skills and past experiences with us, which allow us to draw on those from time to time. One of the most important factors in our success is our constant efforts to provide the very breast product for our customers. We use a very best ingredients and are not satisfied until we’re satisfied! Secondly, I would say that our understanding, a polite conversation and a handshake and doing business with our customers means more than than anything else. I think most importantly, it should be stated that we live our faith and believe that God guides us in our work with our business and in our personal lives.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Success comes in many forms and from many influences.. we look at who is successful, why they are successful, and how what they do fits with our business model. We try to partner with as many people as we can, lift each other up, and expose our customers to new and exciting experiences. Yes… We serve incredible Ice Cream but that’s just the beginning.
