We’re excited to chat with Ashley Johnson about The 48 Laws of Power. Check out our conversation below.

Ashley, it’s always a great day when we have a chance to connect. Thanks for taking the time to share one of your favorite books with us. What can you tell us about The 48 Laws of Power? (Spoiler Alert)
The 48 Laws of Power is a non-fiction book that is designed to empower, inspire, and educate the reader on strategies of wielding power. The reader is endowed with a power strategy and then given real life historical stories that solidify the strategy and why it works. Usually these stories are about leaders, kings, queens, and other people of power that executed that exact strategy and prospered.

Great, so maybe you can get into a bit more detail about why this book feels relevant to you and perhaps you can touch on any lessons or insights that resonated with you?
This book matters to me because I was reading it at a very low point in my life, and it inspired me and gave me my drive back. This book is great for helping a person who wants to go to the next level mentally get there. It will help you see where you’re missing it strategically if you are feeling powerless.

What would you say were some of the most eye-opening or thought-provoking topics in the book?
One of the most thought-provoking topics was the idea that you can’t ever underestimate your enemies. It just confirmed what I already understood, but it gave me so much insight into the why.

You have to always be 10 steps ahead. Your success is one of your greatest weapons, but you have to stay sharp, aware, and humble even when you feel like you’re on top. If you have enemies, you have to protect your peace, your credibility,y and your assets. You can never underestimate their plans for you, this is why you protect these things.

Do you disagree with any of the messages from this book?
I cannot say that I disagree with any of the messages in this book. This is simply because Robert Greene is such an excellent author and the way that he backs up every stand that he makes, it’s near impossible to debate.

Where do you get your work ethic from?

We’ve all heard the phrase “work hard, play hard,” but where does our work ethic
