Meet Tracey Ross

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tracey Ross. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tracey, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My Kids! Resilience came from my awesome kids

Leaving my alcoholic husband after 21 years wasn’t just the end of a marriage, it was the start of a journey into the unknown. After two decades of emotional turmoil and coping with a partner who was consumed by addiction, I found myself standing at a crossroads. My children, my work, and the need to rebuild my life became the pillars that helped me navigate what felt like an overwhelming storm. But the truth is, the greatest source of resilience during this challenging time came from my children. I owe it all to them!

They gave me a new sense of purpose. For years, my identity had been tangled up in my marriage. I had sacrificed parts of myself for the sake of my family, often putting my needs last. When the marriage ended, I had to redefine my purpose for myself and my 2 teens.

Will and Isabelle became my reason to keep going when it felt like everything else was falling apart. Their needs, their well-being, and their future gave me the drive to push through even on the hardest days. As a full-time working mom in real estate, my days were often a blur of meetings, clients, and juggling the endless responsibilities that come with raising and running kids around for all their activities. But through it all, my children kept me grounded. They reminded me that I had something worth fighting for something that mattered more than the weight of my own struggles.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My focus – Building strong foundations through my Journey in Real Estate

My journey into real estate over the past 23 years has been deeply shaped by my personal experiences, navigating the challenges of life as a single mom and learning how to build resilience in the face of adversity. That’s why, in everything I do, I’m committed to creating real, lasting connections with my clients and offering them a level of care and service that goes beyond just a transaction.

As the leader of a real estate team in San Diego, I’m focused on excelling with every client I am fortunate to work with. I see each transaction not just as a business deal, but as an opportunity to help people find a space where they can create memories, build their futures, and truly feel at home. Whether it’s a first-time buyer, someone relocating, or a family looking for their forever home, I’m dedicated to making their experience smooth, stress-free, and memorable.

I would say what excites me most about real estate is the ability to connect with people on such a personal level. A home is so much more than just a property, it’s a place where dreams are built, where families grow, and where life happens. That’s why I go above and beyond to understand my clients’ needs and truly listen to their vision. The trust they place in me to help them navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives is something I don’t take lightly.

I’m not just focused on getting the deal done; I’m focused on building relationships that last. It’s about delivering exceptional service, providing clear communication, and ensuring that my clients feel supported every step of the way. My goal is to earn their trust, not only for the current transaction, but for future referrals and long-lasting friendships.

As my team continues to grow, I’m excited to offer even more tailored services to meet the evolving needs of our clients. We are always striving to be on the cutting edge of market trends, and to ensure that our clients have the best possible experience when it comes to buying or selling a home. Whether it’s offering expert advice on current market conditions, helping clients with relocation, or finding off-market opportunities, my team and I are always looking for new ways to serve our clients better. At the end of the day, my focus is on helping people find more than just a house, I want them to find a home, a place where they can truly thrive. And it’s the relationships I build with my clients that keep me passionate about what I do every single day.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Strength in Observing and Being Quiet
One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned is the importance of being still—both physically and mentally. In a world that’s always moving, it’s easy to feel like we need to be constantly doing, saying, or pushing. But some of the most important insights come when we take a step back and observe. Whether it’s understanding the dynamics of a real estate market or just being present with family and friends to understand their true needs, silence can be incredibly revealing.

2. Dedication to Never Giving Up and Always Moving Forward
Resilience isn’t about never facing setbacks—it’s about making the decision to keep moving forward, no matter how tough the road gets. But my dedication to staying focused and pushing forward, even on the hardest days, has been a huge factor in my success. I learned early on that resilience isn’t just a mindset; it’s a daily practice. Yoga has helped me with this.

3.Listening to My Intuition
Intuition has been one of my greatest allies. Whether it’s making business decisions, or navigating personal challenges, I’ve learned to trust that inner voice. Often, it’s the quiet whisper of your gut that gives you the right direction, even when logic or others may tell you something different. My intuition has steered me through countless moments where I had to make difficult decisions quickly.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Looking back, one of the most impactful things my parents did for me was taking me abroad to experience the world beyond where I grew up. Traveling to different countries and immersing myself in diverse cultures not only expanded my horizons but also played a huge role in shaping who I am today.

I feel exposing me to new places, new people, and new ways of life, my parents encouraged me to grow in ways that I never could have imagined. They pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone, to face the challenges that come with traveling in unfamiliar territories, and to overcome obstacles along the way. These experiences taught me invaluable lessons about adaptability, resilience, and the power of perspective.

Through travel, I learned how to navigate uncertainty, how to connect with people from all walks of life, and how to embrace differences rather than fear them. Every trip helped to expand my creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities. Whether it was figuring out how to communicate in a language I didn’t speak, solving a travel mishap, or simply understanding a culture on a deeper level, each challenge became an opportunity for growth.

It’s through these experiences that I truly learned how to be resourceful, open-minded, and empathetic, qualities that have served me both personally and professionally. The world became my classroom, and the people I met along the way, my teachers. My parents gave me the gift of a broader perspective, and that’s something I carry with me in everything I do.
