Meet Kaila Wallace

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaila Wallace. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kaila, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I keep my creativity alive by prioritizing the things that bring me joy. Not everything I create brings money or feels like the most productive use of my time, but when I’m painting, going live on YouTube, or writing affirmations, I feel most like myself—Kaila.

For a while, though, I lost touch with that part of me. In 2019, I started offering freelance graphic design services and joined a network marketing company while still in school. I leaned into my creative side because I enjoyed it and was being compensated for it. But like many businesses, I hit a slow season. Instead of regrouping, I let fear of failure overwhelm me. After graduating in 2021, I stepped away from entrepreneurship and started a corporate marketing career.

Marketing appealed to me because it bridges creativity and analytical thinking, and entering corporate life felt like a safety net. I was proud of my success—buying my first car, moving out of my parents’ house—but even as things went well externally, I didn’t feel whole. I had let my creativity fade while I focused on surviving instead of thriving.

To bring my creativity back to life, I had to be honest with myself: I, Kaila Wallace, am an artist. Always have been, always will be. No matter what my full-time job is, I need to create space for creativity because, without it, I’m not me. I also reconnected with what brought me joy as a child—reading, painting, playing my Nintendo Switch—and intentionally made time for those things. Finally, I held myself accountable by actively creating: going live on YouTube while painting, recording and editing videos, and making content that felt true to me.

By prioritizing the things that bring me joy, I keep my creativity alive—and by keeping my creativity alive, I stay true to myself

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I used social media consistently for years from posting for personal use to promoting my previous businesses. Today, when you connect with Kaila the Angel you will see a multi-faceted content creator and a joy influencer. From encouraging others with my daily affirmations, showing off my latest outfit of the day to going live on YouTube, know that you will always see the authentic version of me and I hope to inspire you to do the same. I recently launched my very own website www.kailatheangel.com and there I have available for purchase my first digital product, the “Off The Page” affirmation guide!

Affirmations at first were simply a tool for me to learn to be kinder to myself, love myself, and live life as the version of Kaila I truly wanted to be. As I saw the inner transformations within myself and showing up more online, I began to share affirmations which connected me to so many people who needed to hear my words of affirmation just as much as I did. Building my communities and sharing encouragement with others has let me know how important my light and joy is. From being my true self I show others that there is always a reason to find joy.

I am active on TikTok, YouTube, SubStack, Instagram, & Threads. When you purchase the “Off The Page” affirmation guide you gain access to my exclusive email newsletter. In 2025 I plan to host more virtual affirmation challenges to help build accountability to write affirmations and in-person events to create spaces for joy and community with others.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are self-awareness, courage, and optimism.

Self-awareness has been the foundation of my growth. It’s about taking accountability for my actions—and inaction—to ensure I’m aligned with my goals. When limiting beliefs held me back, I had to face the thoughts I was suppressing to move forward. Journaling became my safe space to reflect, helping me understand who I am, where I am, and where I want to go. For anyone early in their journey, I recommend creating a habit of self-reflection, whether through journaling, meditation, or honest conversations with yourself. Knowing yourself is the first step to building the life you want.

Courage is a non-negotiable, especially as a content creator and entrepreneur. I’ve made mistakes in the past, and it’s easy to let those experiences influence how I approach new opportunities. But when you have a goal, it has to be bigger than your fears. For me, my mission—to spread joy and teach others how to become the best version of themselves—reminds me why I show up, even when it’s uncomfortable. My advice? Remember that growth comes from discomfort, and your purpose is greater than your fear. Take the first step, no matter how small, and keep going.

Optimism is the confidence in what’s to come. Once you know yourself and face challenges with courage, you can trust in the best-case scenario. One affirmation I use is, “My intentional actions attract success.” By taking aligned steps toward my goals, I remind myself that I am worthy of success and capable of achieving it. For those just starting, practice reframing setbacks as lessons and affirming your belief in a positive outcome. A hopeful mindset keeps you moving forward.
These three qualities work together: self-awareness helps you understand your path, courage propels you forward, and optimism keeps you focused on the possibilities. By cultivating these traits, you’ll not only grow but thrive.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

The person who has been most helpful in helping me overcome challenges is my mentor, Jada West. I first stumbled upon her TikTok livestream in March 2024, where she introduced the concept of Getting Unshy. Those words resonated deeply with me. At the time, I was starting to rediscover my voice but still felt disconnected from my true, authentic self.

Eager to learn more, I purchased her Getting Unshy workbook, which guided me in building a personal brand that truly reflected who I am. It gave me clarity and confidence in expressing myself online. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that Jada’s wisdom was something I needed more of in my life. So, I reached out via direct message, asking if we could have a call. That call turned into me crying and sharing my struggles, only to be met with Jada’s patience, care, and encouragement. From that moment, she became my mentor, and the wisdom and love she’s poured into me have been transformational.

Joining the Getting Unshy Collective this past Fall was the turning point for me to take my personal brand seriously. It gave me the structure and accountability I needed to launch my website and my first digital product, the Off The Page affirmation guide. Jada has shown me the power and potential I already had within me, helping me push past fear and self-doubt to step fully into my light. I am blessed to have someone who not only inspires me but also empowers me to embrace my journey with purpose and joy.
