Meet Brianna Thompson

We were lucky to catch up with Brianna Thompson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences I’ve had and for the opportunity to do the work I do now. Despite that, it can be intimidating to be the age I am, sitting in rooms with people who are often a decade older and who look different from me. When I first started sharing physical spaces with other successful people, it was easy to doubt myself and wonder whether I was being taken seriously.

“She’s so impressive—and she’s so young? Can you believe it?”

Sentiments like this are undoubtedly meant as compliments, but they also reminded me that I’m at a completely different stage of life compared to my peers and industry friends. While I’m always ecstatic to celebrate other people’s wins and successes, there are moments when I can’t help but feel as though I’m not doing enough in comparison to those around me.

The only way I’ve found to stay effective, despite being hyper-aware of these differences, is to remember that my path and journey are uniquely my own. I get to define what success looks like and what truly moves the needle for my life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a video strategist and UGC creator with a deep passion for storytelling through video. My journey began in 2022 when I went viral with #TheAliceExperiment, a persona embodying my highest self, which taught me the power of intentional content creation. By 2023, I pivoted to UGC, landing my first $200 brand deal through a comment section—and I’ve been helping brands create high-converting, cost-effective content ever since.

With formal training in Adobe Premiere Pro and years of hands-on experience, I’ve worked with top brands like Allbirds, Curology, and Monopoly GO! to deliver strategic and impactful video content. I’ve secured tens of thousands in brand partnerships, helped develop a DTC creator house in 2022, generated over $50,000 in revenue through TikTok Shop, and now manage a video team at a fast-growing agency, crafting ads for a variety of clients.

What sets me apart is my ability to balance technical expertise, creativity, and strategy. Whether it’s producing scroll-stopping UGC or empowering aspiring creators with resources to thrive in the creator economy, I’m passionate about helping brands and individuals succeed in this ever-evolving space.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The ability to create captivating video content: This skill has been foundational to my success and is rooted in a deep passion for video-making. My drive to continuously learn and improve has allowed me to hone this craft, making it a cornerstone of both my creative and professional endeavors.

Discernment in relationships and information-sharing: I’m intentional about the connections I build and the information I share. Protecting my work and my creative vision is crucial for ensuring I stay aligned with my goals and continue moving in the right direction.

Radical kindness: I believe in treating everyone with respect and understanding, regardless of differences in beliefs, actions, or perceptions. By approaching others with kindness and humility, I foster genuine connections and maintain a balanced perspective, even in challenging situations.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

This past year has been challenging, but I’ve learned that nothing worth having comes easily. One of my biggest takeaways has been the necessity of discipline in building entrepreneurial ventures and staying grounded in your vision. I also discovered the value of investing in myself and my ideas while learning to balance that with helping others build their dreams.

In the past, I had a tendency to prioritize work for others over my own goals, which left many of my ideas underdeveloped. I’ve come to realize that creativity is an energy—if you don’t act on your ideas, they can flow to someone else. This year, I made a conscious effort to invest my time back into myself and the projects I had been pushing aside for external commitments. It’s incredibly fulfilling to finally prioritize and look forward to work that is wholly my own.
