Meet Brittany Piacenza

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany Piacenza a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is SO SO real! As a “new” travel creator, I continue to overcome it by embracing my unique journey and recognizing that my voice has value. Growing up with emotional struggles, I often felt like I had to prove my worth, and even as a professional dancer performing on stage, I battled self-doubt despite my skill and passion. When I started my travel page, those old feelings resurfaced—I questioned if I was “qualified” to inspire others when so many creators were already established.

What changed was shifting my mindset. Instead of focusing on what I lacked, I leaned into my strengths—my ability to tell compelling stories, my eye for capturing moments, and my passion for connecting with people. I reminded myself that my experiences, from navigating personal challenges to performing in front of audiences, had already equipped me with resilience, creativity, and the ability to engage an audience.

I also stopped comparing my journey to others. Everyone starts somewhere, and I had to own my perspective as something valuable rather than something to measure against someone else’s success. The more I put myself out there, share my authentic experiences, and receive feedback from people who resonate with my content, the more I realize that I belong in this space.

Most importantly, I reframe my mindset daily—imposter syndrome isn’t proof of inadequacy; it’s proof that I care about what I’m doing. Instead of letting it hold me back, I use it as fuel to keep growing, learning, and pushing forward.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m so excited to be here! I’m a travel content creator with a passion for showcasing unique stays, hidden gems, and unforgettable experiences around the world. My journey into this space was deeply personal—it started as a way to channel my love for storytelling and travel during a difficult time in my life. Since then, it has grown into a platform where I inspire others to explore new places while also helping boutique hotels and unique properties gain the visibility they deserve. I especially love working with accommodations that need a little extra exposure—it’s my way of giving back to small businesses and independent hosts who create incredible stays but may not always have the marketing reach of larger brands.

What excites me most about what I do is the opportunity to bring destinations to life through my content. Whether it’s highlighting an off-the-beaten-path Airbnb, sharing immersive experiences, or curating travel guides that help others plan their own adventures, I want to make travel feel accessible, inspiring, and full of possibilities!

Right now, I have an exciting giveaway happening on my Instagram—a 3-night stay in Dominica! It’s my way of giving my audience the chance to experience this stunning Caribbean destination, and all the entry details can be found on my IG page, @brittaroundtheworld.

Beyond that, I’m continuing to grow my brand by collaborating with hotels, Airbnbs, and travel companies, creating mini-guides for destinations I’ve visited, and offering insights into affordable luxury experiences. My goal is to keep inspiring people to travel the world while also supporting the incredible businesses that make those experiences possible.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were resilience, storytelling, and relationship-building.

1. Resilience – This one has been huge for me. I’ve learned that success isn’t about avoiding failure—it’s about pushing forward despite it. When I started my travel page, I felt like an outsider in the space. I had to remind myself that I belonged here and that growth takes time. My advice? Keep going, even when you feel like no one is watching. Stay consistent, adapt when needed, and trust that every effort is adding up, even if you don’t see instant results.

2. Storytelling – I didn’t just want to post travel content; I wanted to create stories that made people feel something. My background in dance helped with this—I had spent years learning how to express emotion and captivate an audience. The same applies to travel storytelling! Whether it’s through words, video, or photos, focus on sharing experiences in a way that connects with people. Instead of just showing a hotel room, tell the story of how it made you feel—the little details that made it special. If you’re just starting, practice finding the emotion in your experiences, and don’t be afraid to share your unique perspective.

3. Relationship-Building – Travel content creation isn’t just about making content; it’s about building connections—with your audience, brands, and fellow creators. Some of my best collaborations happened because I took the time to foster genuine relationships, not just send a pitch. My advice? Engage with people, support others in your industry, and always bring value to the table. When reaching out to brands, think about how you can help them, not just what you want. And with your audience, be real—reply to DMs, share the highs and lows, and make people feel like they’re traveling alongside you.

At the end of the day, no one starts as an expert. Keep learning, stay true to yourself, and enjoy the process—you never know where the journey will take you!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! I love collaborating with brands, boutique hotels, unique Airbnbs, and travel-related companies that align with my mission of inspiring people to explore the world. I especially enjoy working with properties that could use a little extra exposure—it’s my way of giving back and helping them reach new audiences.

I’m always open to partnerships involving content creation, UGC, brand storytelling, press trips, and destination marketing. I also have a website with detailed blog posts about destinations I’ve visited. My portfolio, showcasing my work, is available there for potential partners to explore. Whether it’s showcasing a stunning stay, highlighting an experience, or curating travel guides, I aim to create engaging, high-quality content that resonates with my audience.
