We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany Velez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in the example set by my parents. Both of them are incredibly hardworking, and growing up, I watched them put in long hours, juggle multiple jobs, and still prioritize raising three busy kids. My mother always said, ‘We wanted something better for our kids,’ and that drive to create a better future was the foundation of their sacrifices.
In our family, we were encouraged to find our own niche, and for me, that was athletics. As a full-time student-athlete for many years, I developed discipline, resilience, and strong time management skills—qualities that have shaped my approach to work and success. The combination of my parents’ example and the lessons I learned through sports has given me the determination to work hard, stay focused, and always strive for excellence

Hi there! I’m a travel agent specializing in crafting unforgettable Disney vacations, magical Universal getaways, and dream cruises for families and travelers looking to make memories that last a lifetime. My goal is to take the stress out of planning, so you can focus on the fun—from picking the perfect resort to securing must-do dining reservations and experiences.
What excites me most about my work is seeing the joy and excitement in my clients’ stories when they return from their trips. Whether it’s a first-time visit to Walt Disney World, a thrilling night at Halloween Horror Nights, or a relaxing Disney cruise at sea, I love making those once-in-a-lifetime moments happen.
For me, travel is about more than just a trip—it’s about creating lasting connections, magical experiences, and stories you’ll treasure forever. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about making your vacation perfect, I’d love to help bring your dream trip to life!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three key qualities have had the biggest impact on my journey as a travel agent:
1. Passion for Disney & Travel
Loving what I do makes all the difference. My excitement for Disney, Universal, and cruising isn’t just about booking trips—it’s about creating magical experiences. That passion helps me stay up to date on the latest offerings, insider tips, and ways to make each trip extra special.
Advice: If you’re just starting out, immerse yourself in what you love. Visit the parks, go on cruises, watch travel vlogs, and engage with the community. The more you experience and learn, the better you’ll be at crafting unforgettable vacations for others.
2. Strong Communication & Relationship-Building
This business isn’t just about booking vacations—it’s about building trust. Understanding clients’ needs, making personalized recommendations, and keeping in touch before, during, and after their trips makes all the difference.
Advice: Practice active listening. Ask thoughtful questions about what your clients want, and take notes on their preferences. Follow up, check in, and show that you genuinely care about their experience. Happy clients become lifelong clients!
3. Marketing & Social Media Growth
Building a strong online presence has been key to reaching new clients and growing my business. Whether it’s sharing helpful tips, showcasing magical moments, or connecting with fellow Disney lovers, social media helps me stay visible and build relationships.
Advice: Start small but be consistent. Share what excites you, whether it’s park tips, cruise highlights, or planning guides. Engage with others, join conversations, and don’t be afraid to show your personality—people book with people they trust!
No matter where you are in your journey, keep learning, stay passionate, and always put your clients first. The magic is in the details!
