Meet Dario Ocampo

We were lucky to catch up with Dario Ocampo recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Dario with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic was instilled in me from a very young age. I started working at just nine years old, growing up in Mexico in a household led by my widowed mother. Watching her work tirelessly to provide for us taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. As soon as I was able, I wanted to help her in any way I could, so I began working too. Together, we always found ways to ensure there was food on the table.

One of my first jobs was in the fields, growing and harvesting different foods. From there, I took on many roles—working in a tortillería, selling ice cream, driving a taxi, and countless other jobs. I’ve always loved working because, for me, it was never about wishing for a better life; it was about making it happen. I never wanted to struggle, so I committed myself to every job I took, striving to be the best at it. That mentality has stayed with me ever since.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I started in grass maintenance, but as time went on, I deepened my expertise, learning everything from landscape design, irrigation to tree services and more. Every aspect of my work is special to me—it’s not just a job, it’s my passion. I pour my heart into everything I do, ensuring that my work not only meets the highest standards but also makes my clients feel truly satisfied. Doing things the right way has always been my priority.

I want people to recognize my brand as a company that goes above and beyond, delivering exceptional work with integrity and dedication. The relationships I’ve built over the years mean everything to me—that, to me, is the greatest reward. More than just growing a business, I take pride in passing down our values and craftsmanship to my children and grandchildren, ensuring that our family legacy continues for generations to come.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The best advice I can give is simple: always do quality work and be honest. Integrity and dedication will take you far and open doors along the way. Never cut corners—make sure every job you do is done right. Your reputation is built on consistency, so whether you have one client or a hundred, always maintain the same level of care, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence. That’s what truly sets you apart.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Honestly, I have always been very good at blocking that feeling. I have trained my mind to stay sharp and focused on my work. What helps me is that I don’t allow negative thoughts or anything that could throw me off. I simply focus on the task at hand and do it with such joy that I believe it helps prevent me from feeling overwhelmed. I have a strong certainty in myself and my ability to handle any situation.
