We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michelle Bohling. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michelle below.
Michelle, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Growing up in a Cop household, I learned young that if I wanted something I had to grab it and hold on to it myself. A lot of the time I would be interested in something and either my mom or my brothers wouldn’t necessarily understand why I liked it, but they would still cheer me on and be proud if I won and encourage me to keep going if I lost. That instilled in me an urge to try, and keep trying if I lost.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I work in Security for my day job, I am going to school to hopefully be able to further myself in that career. Any free time I have I either hanging with my dog Skye, or going to casting calls for fashion shows or photoshoots to help me further my craft. I have about 5 fashion shows lined up already this year, and I am looking forward to adding to the list. I will be a Co-producer in a fashion show located in Tulsa, OK called Strut for Your Cause. It will be the 20th anniversary, so you know it will have to be done BIG. Hope you come out and see the show, there will be dancers, models and maybe a singer or 2.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Growing up with family that had either cop and military backgrounds I learned real fast to have a back bone and take no BS, but also when to take the “L”,
By no means does taking the “L” mean I gave up, I just came back later stronger and better than I was originally. You are going to hear “No” several times before you hear a “Yes” and that is okay, just don’t let the “No’s” keep you down.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always open to collaboration! I would love to work with a Motorcycle company, since I have been thinking about and working getting my own bike for a while now (living in a apartment is not the best circumstances for a bike).
I am open to collaboration with really anyone who wants to work with me, as long as our schedules line up.
Also anyone with a more alternative or “different” style is always welcome.
