Meet DJ CHEF

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DJ CHEF a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

DJ CHEF, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

With any concept thats never been done before you have to stick to your vision. From the very beginning, former bosses, chefs, DJs even acquaintances have said I cant do that and DJ CHEF “its a pipedream” I used the negativity and lack of support as motivation to keep going, fine tuning and kept working on achieving my vision

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Im known internationally as DJ CHEF “The Chef That Rocks!” the only entertainer who simultaneously cooks & DJ’s for special events worldwide.

The DJ CHEF EXPERIENCE fuses the thrill of live DJing with the culinary artistry of interactive cooking tailor-made for discerning hosts & event producers
seeking to elevate their special events and private celebrations.

I won Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen and Ive made guest TV appearances on Bravo, MTV, FOX 5 & HGTV. Im currently working on my own reality TV show and a cookbook.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

3 important skills that were a big part of my journey are;

1. Marketing:
Marketing never sleeps. This is something I did and still do 24-7. The most important part of any business ia getting the word out through a mix of marketing, PR & advertising. Ive always had a sign of my car. Vanity plates with my business, I now have a wrapped vehicle. I always collect emails and compose seasonal email newsletters. Ive always had a internet presence. Website, Social media. Blogs. Listing on websites in your field.
PR; ive worked with publicists over the years, I have my assistant do in house press releases and book our own news segments and media placements.
Advertising; Its a no brainer to spend some budget on advertising on outets in your industry.

My best advice for people early in their journey is to realize that you never lose, you learn. Obviously we dont give up so learn from your mistakes. Ive made many. Its really the best self help and motivation to learn from those missteps and better yourself.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

I have developed The DJ CHEF Bachelorette Experience which has become our number one private event. Its the ultimate Bachelorette Party Experience that blends live private chef cooking with an interactive cooking show with the bride and a high energy DJ dance party / sing a long! We are based in the Hamptons / Montauk and the east end of Long Island but will travel to other destinations. We have won awards from The Knot and have been featured on Bravo, Fox 5, Food Network, News 12 and blogs like Betches, Elite Daily & Buzzfeed.

As far as large scale corporate events, I get calls from event planners that are looking for unique entertainment for thier events. Ive been told The DJ CHEF Experience really levels up the typical club DJ option for corporate events, food festivals & tradeshows. I love to work with creative event planners that have out if the box ideas and appreciate the unique & interactive experience that we bring to their events.
