We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyler Kosman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tyler , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
The poverty I grew up in shaped my survival mode mentality. In the early years of life, resilience was essential to just getting through the day-to-day. Now we face unpredictable and dangerous situations every day as bounty hunters and business owners. Resilience plays a huge role in our success. It was the obstacles I faced growing up that made me the entrepreneur I am today and helped me understand the challenges life may give and to avoid them the work that needs to be done.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My company, B.E.A.S.T Fugitive Recovery & Protection, stands for Bail Enforcement Apprehension Street Team. Apprehending fugitives is our job, but we also protect high risk individuals. I have the privilege of working in an exciting and challenging field. Every day is different and never a dull moment. The greatest feeling is helping keep our community safe and assuring justice for those who seek it. Protecting those who are in need is the other rewarding feeling, they are counting on us to protect them in some of their toughest times. Beast is the largest Recovery team in the mid-west and growing to more states soon.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Having resilience, determination, motivation and the right resources can take you anywhere you want to go in this world. If you love what you do and have these qualities nothing can stop, you. Believe in what you do and how you do it, without you this world wouldn’t be the same. Every day you wake up is an opportunity to inch closer to your goal, it’s a marathon not a sprint.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Being in a high stress lifestyle i often get overwhelmed and need to take a step back and breathe. I make it a priority to delegate tasks and not to overload myself. Make time for you to manage everyday stress by simply meditating or finding your relaxed state of mind.
