Meet Roshale Thompson

We were lucky to catch up with Roshale Thompson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Roshale , so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
In life, it is important to take certain risks to make it to the next level. Some call it a risk, but I refer to it as “faith”. You have to step out on faith and believe in you. I left my 20 year career as an educator to open up my bakery business. It realized that I had to walk by faith and not by sight. Many are blinded by what they see in real-time versus the endless possibilities. Because I am a visionary, I don’t stop dreaming, hoping, and striving to reach higher. I love the quote by Les Brown, “Shoot for the moon even if you miss, you’ll land amongst the stars.” I am excited about my future!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am the owner and cake decorator at Divalicious Delights Bakery. We create custom cakes and treats for all occasions. Our scratch baked goods keep customers coming back for more. Although our bakery originated from designing custom cakes, we are also known for our tasty sweets such as dessert jars and dessert bars. This year, we started offering cake decorating, cookie decorating, and treat decorating class in addition to hosting other events. It’s such an exciting time for us because our store front has been open for 10 months, and we’re still growing. I’m looking forward to our One Year Anniversary celebration on Saturday, September 23, 2023. If you’re in the area, please stop by and celebrate with us as we look forward to meeting you!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Overall, my journey has been a true blessing! My ability to believe in myself, exercise patience, and remain determined to persevere has been instrumental in my success. The most important thing is you must remember your “Why” as it will help you get through some of the most challenging times throughout life. Also, I found it very beneficial to have a mentor because it’s impossible to be knowledgeable in every area. As a result, you have support and less error. Never give up, keep pushing!

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Life has its ups and downs which means it can cause one to be overwhelmed in certain situations. It’s important to take a step back, calm down, and identify the issue. Once you get to the root cause, find ways to alleviate stress by meditating, yoga, taking breaks, and doing what you enjoy most. Take time out for self care because you matter the most. After the reset, you’ll be rejuvenated and ready to hit the road running again!
