We were lucky to catch up with Quim Bové recently and have shared our conversation below.
Quim, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I believe my purpose found me. From the moment I could hold a pencil, I was creating drawing, painting, and bringing ideas to life. It wasn’t just a pastime; it was how I truly felt alive. Art became my way of understanding the world, expressing emotions beyond words, and connecting with something greater than myself.
This passion never faded. Through my artistic journey, I found not only my voice but also a profound sense of meaning, dignity, and purpose. Art is my language, my energy, and my way of leaving a mark on the universe.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a contemporary artist based in Los Angeles, where my studio is my creative sanctuary. Born in Catalonia, Spain, I was captivated by art from an early age, studying the works of local artists such as Dalí, Miró, Tàpies, Grau-Garriga, and Picasso, as well as the American abstract movement. Their influence shaped my foundation, but over time, I developed my own visual language—one that explores energy, movement, and the unseen forces of existence.
Like any artist, my path wasn’t without obstacles. Art has always been my obsession, but life demanded more. When I started a family, I had to balance my creative ambitions with real-world responsibilities. That meant securing a steady income while carving out precious moments to paint. It wasn’t easy, but perseverance and an unstoppable drive kept my artistic fire alive. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing—every challenge shaped the artist I am today.
In my 30s, I took a leap of faith, moving to the U.S. with my family to start anew. The vast, golden landscapes and energy of the Sonoran Desert in Phoenix became my muse, fueling my creativity for over two decades. Eventually, I relocated to Los Angeles to reunite with my children, bringing with me a renewed vision and an even deeper commitment to my art.
Now, I am fully immersed in my work, channeling the raw energy of the universe
onto canvas. My paintings are a fusion of abstraction and symbolism, a visual exploration of the forces that shape us—motion, time, gravity, and existence itself. I see myself as a contemporary painter of human existence in the cosmos, constantly pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.
My brand, Quim Bové Contemporary Art, is dedicated to expanding my presence in the art world and connecting with new audiences.
I am actively seeking opportunities to collaborate with galleries that resonate with my artistic vision, ensuring that my work reaches collectors and spaces where it can truly inspire.
My goal? To create art that not only captivates the eye but also stirs the soul—offering intellectual reflection, emotional resonance, and a sense of wonder.
What’s Next?
Right now, I’m working on my latest series, “Birds of Space”—a collection that symbolizes hope, unity, and the thrilling unknown of humanity’s future. It’s an artistic exploration of movement, energy, and the endless questions that shape our destiny.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities stand out as the most impactful in my journey: Perseverance, Hard Work, and Faith.
Perseverance
Art—like any lifelong pursuit—is a journey of constant evolution. There will be challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt, but perseverance is what keeps you moving forward. It’s about pushing through the struggles, refining your craft, and staying committed, even when things don’t go as planned.
Hard Work
Talent is just the starting point—hard work is what transforms potential into mastery. The dedication to improve, to create even when inspiration feels distant, and to overcome obstacles is what truly defines an artist’s path. Success doesn’t come overnight; it’s built through relentless effort and a deep commitment to the work.
Faith
Believing in yourself and your vision is essential. There will be times when no one else sees what you see, but having faith in your purpose and artistic journey is what keeps the fire alive. Trusting the process and staying true to your work is what ultimately leads to fulfillment and success.
Advice for Those Starting Their Journey
If you’re just beginning, stay committed, work tirelessly, and trust in your path. Embrace challenges as part of the process, keep refining your skills, and most importantly—believe in what you create. The journey of an artist is never linear, but with perseverance, hard work, and faith, it will always be meaningful.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
At this stage in my career, I am looking to establish a partnership with a contemporary art gallery that aligns with my vision and can introduce my work to new collectors and audiences.
My paintings explore the forces that shape our existence—energy, motion, time, and the unseen structures of the universe—through a distinct abstract language that has resonated with collectors worldwide.
Having exhibited internationally, I understand the value of strong gallery representation—not just in sales but in building a long-term dialogue between artist, curator, and collector. I am seeking a professional gallery that is committed to fostering that dialogue, placing work in the right contexts, and expanding its reach in meaningful ways.
The search for the right representation is always a process, but I trust that the right fit exists—one where my work and the gallery’s vision complement each other in a way that benefits both.
