Meet Sarahi Pendergrass

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sarahi Pendergrass a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sarahi, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Resilience isn’t something you’re born with—it’s built through experience. I come from a family of immigrants, and the journey from Honduras to a better life wasn’t easy. But facing those early challenges taught me how to adapt and keep going, even when things were tough. Resilience is like a muscle; the more you use it, the stronger it gets. Some people build it on their own, but having the right support makes all the difference. I’ve been lucky to have my amazing partner, my family, mentors, and friends lifting me up every step of the way. The truth is, resilience isn’t about where you start—it’s about how you keep going, no matter what life throws at you.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I create content that shines a light on the chaos of parenting and marriage—the kind of mess no one talks about. From toddler tantrums to “romantic” grocery store dates, I turn everyday moments into stories that make people laugh and feel less alone. What excites me the most is the connection with my audience. Parenthood can be isolating, and social media often shows a picture-perfect life. My goal is to remind parents that it’s okay if the house is a disaster, the kids are feral, and dinner is whatever didn’t get burned. If I can make someone laugh or feel less alone, that’s a win. Going forward, I’m exploring new formats and collaborations to bring even more humor and authenticity to parenting.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, perseverance, humor, and embracing mistakes have been key to my journey. Perseverance helped me keep going when results were hard to see, and humor has been my lifeline through the chaos of parenting. Without laughter, I’d be drowning in stress. Embracing mistakes has also been a game-changer. I used to fear failure, but now I see it as part of the process—each mistake is a lesson that moves me forward. If you’re just starting out, my advice: show up consistently, laugh through the chaos, and don’t fear mistakes—they’re essential for growth.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

There’s a balance, but I lean toward focusing on your strengths, especially when you’re starting out. Your strengths are where you can really shine. When you focus on what you’re naturally good at, your work feels more authentic and effortless. That said, it’s still important to work on your weaknesses—but not at the expense of your core strengths. For example, when I first started creating content, I wasn’t great at the technical side—video editing and all that. But I didn’t let that stop me. I focused on creating content that felt real and authentic, then gradually worked on the technical skills I needed. By focusing on what you do best while improving where you can, your content will feel more “you” and resonate with others.
