We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Juicy Jay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Juicy Jay, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from my mother. Growing up I thought she was a superhero; like she could withstand and do anything. I always admired her hustle and get-the-job-done attitude.

Juicy Jay’s Kitchen is an exclusive catering and private cook service specializing in seafood, Cajun/creole, soul food, and soul fusion cuisines. Juicy Jay’s Kitchen is a licensed and insured service, operating under a LLC and DBA. Proudly serving the Rochester, NY area, Juicy Jay’s Kitchen took off in 2020 from just a dream and raw talent. After having spent the last few years perfecting their craft, Juicy Jay’s Kitchen has built strong local and national relationships and has fed the souls of thousands.

Home of, “It tastes as good as it looks!” we are the top choice for quality eats that are both appetizing to the stomach and the eye.

Juicy Jay’s Kitchen has a long resume of happy, full, and satisfied customers including but not limited to NBA basketball players, NFL football players, rap and R&B artists, music executives, hospitals, universities, banks, schools, and more. Juicy Jay’s Kitchen provides full wrap around services and goes above and beyond to meet the customer’s expectation and “vision”.

Juicy Jay is available for traveling jobs, corporate events, celebrity dinners/hosting’s, birthday parties, graduations, baby showers, small weddings, special occasions, and events of all kinds.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Time management
Strong organizational skills
Effective communication

My advice to others early in their journey is: never stop learning. The most successful people are those who realize they do not know everything.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was love me! They allowed me to be me, I never felt like I had to assimilate to any standard with them. I’ve always been “different” and they loved and praised my uniqueness. That type of love and grace made me who I am today.
