Meet Rachael Warfield

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rachael Warfield. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rachael , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I believe I get my resiliency from my passion for my art and my music; it has imbued me with tenacity, and the ability to weather great highs and lows within my life and my career, alongside giving me the inspiration to continue creating amid all the seasons of my life. Everytime I feel that life is becoming too overwhelming, it’s always the music the refuels and recharges me, in a way that makes me want to jump right back in and keep swimming in the endless possibilities art and life have to offer.

I feel that that’s the magic that happens when you truly love what you do; it’s part of learning to swim upstream, and develop a great love for your adversities, because of the realization that the challenges make you stronger, and truly give you the grit to level up over and over again as you move along in your artistic journey, and in life.

I also feel that my newfound relationship with self-care and self-love has greatly revolutionized my life, in a way that has given me the ability and the tools to develop habits, that have essentially allowed me to build a very healthy foundation regarding my lifestyle and my habits.

This has greatly safeguarded me as well from burnout amid the highs of creating, traveling, and performing. The more I develop balance and come back to myself, and the work on my relationship with myself, the healthier I’ve become and my relationships have become. It’s also allowed my career and my courage to greatly bloom.

I feel like the self work is a continuous journey, and so is my artistic journey, and the more I give my energy to the work on both, the more they’ve allowed me to grow in really inspiring ways. I’m grateful for the symbiotic relationship, and for learning how to step into more of a flow when it comes to the way that I live life, and honoring my rhythm within it all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Rachael Warfield is a genre-blending American singer-songwriter, pianist and producer with a soulful influence and connection to music. Her music is noted for its stylized, passionate soundscapes rich in traces of funk, pop, and blues greatly inspired by Motown and modern soul.

Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Warfield was born with an extraordinary passion for music. At the age of 14 she signed with Global Media Music, and under the mentorship of producer Tony Coluccio (who did original remixes for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Cher, Gloria Stefan and others of the like), released her sensational debut “Out of my Mind”, which opened the Springing the Blues Music Festival in 2013. At around this time she met and worked with David Ciemny, Lady Gaga’s first tour manager, who helped her grow into her artistry and establish herself as an independent artist.

The following year she signed an independent record deal with Ennecho Records, spawning the single “California Time” and EP “Dream”, performing in Canadian Music Week, Canada’s largest new music festival, in 2016. In 2017 she launched her own label, Rox Records, under which she released the single “My heart can’t lose”. More recently, Warfield has opened for Jesse McCarthy at The Jacksonville Towncenter Holiday Concert Series in 2018, and played in the Strawberry Music Festival with headliners Patti LaBelle and Rascal Flatts in 2020.

She began working on her upcoming EP in 2022 with Grammy nominated producer Anthony Bell. It will include performances by Grammy nominated producer and saxophonist, Scott Mayo, and background vocals by four- time Grammy winning artist, Jazmine Sullivan. The project has a tentative release date of Fall 2025.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think one of the most valuable things every artist can do for themselves is to, invest in themselves. Invest in the lessons, and the time it takes to develop a team of highly skilled professionals that you’re able to learn from and grow with. They will teach you incredible tools, and provide guidance as you grow your skill set and navigate the ever-evolving and changing industries.

Being able to work in the studio for days on end at a very young age; experimenting with writing, performing, and production was such a gift. The producer, Tony Coluccio, and his label Global media music, gave me that opportunity.

I was able to hone in on my craft, and work with incredibly talented and professional artists, writers, and musicians, and it grew me greatly as an artist.

Also, developing a strong work ethic and discipline, will provide you with stamina to do consistent rehearsals and practicing, while also making space for the growth and the experimentation to happen.

Also, something I would also greatly recommend is collaborating with other artist, this offers endless inspiration and growth as well

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I think both, to make room for the investment of both. Growing your skillset, alongside the skills you were naturally endowed with, will only make you and stronger artist and more well rounded person.

Sometimes, it’s not just about the art, it’s about protecting the art, and what skill sets you can develop in order to do that. Develop those, invest in those. It will only only things to grow more abundantly.
