We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tanya Kunda a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tanya, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I grew up the quietest in my family and I always wondered how people can just put themselves out there and not be embarrassed if they say something they didn’t mean. I grew up with a wild older sister and as time went on she would invite me to hangout with her friends. This really begin to open my world to being more extroverted. As time went on I began taking more leadership rolls in worship at church. On class projects, assignments and study groups and then leadership roles at work. Focusing on delegating tasks. This really helped me step out of my comfort zone and strive for excellence. I realized after I started leadership roles, it was natural for me. There are times that I wished I took the back seat on, but I always gravitate to take the reins. When I fixate on a task, I have to execute it! Worship especially, I know that a-lot of people are scared, scared of opportunity, scared to fail, scared to get embarrassed. But I get excited at the chance to try something new even if it challenges me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As on now, since we just launched in October 2024. We have been focusing on getting our name out there. Marketing towards the right audience. Making sure that we are portraying ourselves in the right light. I would love to stay on this course for a while longer and continue to tweak our operation. Making it more seem-less. I hope to eventually hire baristas this year so I can take more time to travel and be with family and my husband.
We currently just finished building our second cart so hopefully in the future get another machine and equipment. That way we don’t have to say no to some clients that want to book 2 in one day!
My dream way in the future is to open a wedding venue like a conservatory to pair with our coffee cart. I have always loved weddings and this a venue like this is not what you see in Florida a lot.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the best thing for you and your business is not to compare with how long someone else has been doing the same trade. You’ll get sucked into all the things they do rather than what you can do better for you business. The longer you look at someone else the less time you have to focus on you!
Mindset is everything! One week I won’t get any inquiries and the next I will get a ton. You cannot hang onto how much you previously had cause more will always come. I always say there is enough business for everyone!
Also setting aside time to do things your love. Business doesn’t always have to take all your time away. On days I have no events, I paint and go to the beach and go grab some brunch with my friends. This will really help you regroup so you can focus on work even better!

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
Something I have been facing lately is outreaching to companies, wedding coordinators and venues that would want to partner with me. People always want to see your credentials and good feedback from previous clients. And I haven’t had any bad experiences but the turn around time for clients is a lot longer than someone wanting a coffee cart and inquiring on my website then and there.
