We were lucky to catch up with Chania Price recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chania , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I used to be very shy, and to this day it can consume me. However, sometimes you have to “fake it ‘til you make it. Once I realized that at the end of the day, everyone is trying to reach a certain goal, and that everyone gets embarrassed at times, it allowed me to let go and do things that made me happy regardless of judgement or stares. I also gained my confidence by simply talking to myself in front of a camera- whether I posted it or not- and over time it has become easier. I also love affirmations, because when you speak love and life into yourself, you will begin to develop self love and confidence.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a model and content creator. I love all things art, fashion, beauty and life. I started modeling in 2020, focusing on print modeling only. In 2022, I began my journey with Runway modeling, and learned skills and technique through my school’s modeling organization Infinite Appeal. Modeling is a true passion of mine, and I am grateful for the opportunities and connections that I have made so far. Content creating has also brought me pure joy, as it allows me to share my experiences and document life’s adventures. I have also been able to work with brands such as Parade and Icon Swim.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One quality I would say that has helped me on my journey would be confidence. It hasn’t always been an easy journey, however the confidence I have obtained has allowed me to grow as a model, dancer, and content creator. Additionally, communication and networking have both allowed me to meet new people, make connections, and it has opened the door for various opportunities. For people who are interested in modeling or creating content, my advice would be to just START! Research areas you are most interested in, grab your favorites outfits and start taking your own pictures and videos. Even if you don’t post them the first time around, getting comfortable with being in front of a camera will build the confidence within you.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents have always supported my dreams. They have always showed up to my fashion shows and events, as well as dance competitions when I was younger, and they now repost my content that I put out on social media. Their prayers over me and the love that they have for me runs deep, and it motivates me every day to be the best version of myself so that I can one day give back to them.
