Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patrick Antonian. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Patrick, so happy to have you with us today. You are such a creative person, but have you ever head any sort of creativity block along the way? If so, can you talk to us about how you overcame or beat it?
The best way to overcome a creative block for me is getting new experience and just simply working through it. I try and change up a something in my life to experience some new things. All the while I keep writing. Some things written will not make it to the final release of a song, but I keep writing and eventually get to a place where I’m expressing my new experience and am happy with the outcome.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Los Angeles based musican/rapper. Growing up in L.A. during the golden era surrounded me with the elements of HipHop and also taught me the code of the street. I’m is still upholding the morals of a past generations while stepping into the new era. It’s L.A.’s grimy street rap. Combining the fact that I’m originally from and inspired by the west-coast but was also inspired by artist’s from the east and south, really makes for an innovative sound and style of rap. I have an EP coming out with Medusa of Project Blowed. It’s a 3 song project produced bye Nino Beige, with scratches from DJ Merk 1200, and being released through WCK records. Check that out.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful would have to be to go with your intuition. Try and clear your head and go with your gut instinct. Definitely always be on time if not early and ready to work. And thirdly have a clear intention of what your goal is, so you know what you are working towards.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Being their true self. My parents definitely pasted down their morals and beliefs without informing it. They showed in their everyday life what compassion is, what empathy is, what love is, what anger can be, and so much more. Best thing they ever did was just stay consistent and stable.
