Meet Bhavna Misra

We were lucky to catch up with Bhavna Misra recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bhavna, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from a blend of my upbringing, faith, and my experiences as an artist. Growing up, I was encouraged to see beauty in the everyday and to approach life with curiosity and resilience. My family instilled in me the values of perseverance and gratitude, teaching me that challenges are not roadblocks but stepping stones toward growth.

Faith has also been a guiding force in my life. It reminds me that there is a larger purpose at play, and this trust in something greater allows me to navigate uncertainty with hope. I believe that every challenge carries a lesson, and with patience, clarity always follows.

As an artist, I see the world through a lens of transformation and possibility. Whether working on a painting or envisioning a public art piece, I embrace the idea that even the simplest brushstroke can evolve into something meaningful. My nature-inspired work, particularly influenced by the landscapes of the East Bay, constantly reinforces my belief in renewal, harmony, and the power of creativity to bring joy. This perspective fuels my optimism—reminding me that, like art, life is a process of discovery, and beauty often emerges in the most unexpected ways.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an artist with a deep passion for creating nature-inspired, harmonious landscapes that reflect the beauty and serenity of the world around us. My work is particularly influenced by the East Bay’s natural scenery, and I strive to capture the essence of light, movement, and emotion through my art. Whether working on canvas or large-scale public art projects, my goal is to create pieces that evoke a sense of peace, connection, and wonder.

What excites me most about my work is the ability to transform spaces and uplift communities through art. Public art, in particular, allows me to bring creativity into everyday life, making art accessible and immersive for people who might not otherwise seek it out. I love the idea that a mural, an installation, or even a small painting can brighten someone’s day, spark conversation, or inspire new perspectives.

Currently, I am exploring new opportunities in public art and community-driven projects, looking for ways to expand my work into more shared spaces. If you’re interested in collaborating, commissioning a piece, or learning more about my creative process, I’d love to connect!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey as an artist are resilience, adaptability, and a deep connection to my artistic voice.

Resilience – The path of an artist is filled with uncertainties, from creative blocks to rejections. Learning to push forward despite setbacks has been crucial. I’ve found that staying committed to my craft, even when things don’t go as planned, has led to some of my most rewarding breakthroughs. Advice: For those starting out, embrace the process. Not every piece will be a masterpiece, and not every opportunity will work out, but every experience teaches you something valuable.

Adaptability – Art is constantly evolving, and so is the world around us. Being open to learning new techniques, exploring different mediums, and adapting to new opportunities—such as public art projects—has helped me grow both creatively and professionally. Advice: Stay curious. Experiment with different styles, mediums, and platforms to discover what resonates with you. Be open to feedback, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.

A Deep Connection to My Artistic Voice – Over time, I’ve learned that my most impactful work comes when I create from a place of authenticity. My nature-inspired art reflects my connection to the world around me, and that personal meaning makes it more powerful. Advice: Take the time to understand what inspires you. Whether it’s nature, culture, emotions, or personal experiences, let your unique perspective shape your work. Authenticity is what sets you apart.

For those early in their journey, my biggest encouragement is to stay passionate, keep creating, and seek opportunities to share your work. Whether it’s through exhibitions, public art, or digital platforms, putting yourself out there is key to growth and connection.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who values art not just as decoration, but as an experience—someone who appreciates the way creativity can transform a space, evoke emotion, and tell a meaningful story. Whether it’s an individual collector, a public art committee, or a business looking to enhance their environment, I enjoy working with those who are open to collaboration and trust the creative process.

I especially resonate with clients who have an appreciation and respect for nature and harmony, as these themes are central to my work. Those who seek to bring warmth, serenity, or a sense of connection to their surroundings—whether through a commissioned painting or a large-scale public art installation—are a great fit.

Additionally, I love working with communities and organizations that prioritize public engagement and cultural enrichment. Art in shared spaces has the power to uplift, and I’m drawn to projects that allow me to create something meaningful for a broader audience.

Above all, the best collaborations come when there’s mutual respect, enthusiasm, and a shared vision for how art can inspire and enhance a space. If someone values creativity, is excited about the process, and is open to exploring new ideas, we’re likely to create something wonderful together.
