Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Priscilla Cabada. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Priscilla, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
From the few years of experience I’ve had, I can certainly say entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. There are many moments where you doubt yourself or question if you are ready for the next step. When I first started my business, imposter syndrome was something I definitely struggled with. I’ve always been a perfectionist and I tend to demand a lot of myself. When you put so much passion and effort into your craft, it’s easy to question whether you’re truly “good enough” or if you belong in the same space as other talented cake artists and bakers. I used to compare myself to others, wondering if I measured up, especially since my commitment to using only the highest-quality organic ingredients sometimes made my cakes more expensive than mass-produced alternatives.
What helped me overcome it was shifting my focus from comparison to confidence in my own unique approach. I reminded myself why I started—because I genuinely love creating edible art that not only looks beautiful but tastes exceptional. Over time, the reactions from my clients reinforced that I was on the right path. Seeing their excitement and hearing how my cakes became part of their most special moments gave me validation beyond anything I could give myself.
I also learned to embrace the fact that growth never stops. Instead of seeing imposter syndrome as a sign that I didn’t belong, I started viewing it as proof that I was always evolving. Every challenge, every new skill learned, and every cake I created made me better. Now, rather than doubting myself, I trust my craftsmanship, my dedication to quality, and the relationships I’ve built with my clients.
Of course, those little moments of doubt still creep in from time to time, but when they do, I remind myself that I’ve worked hard to build something special, and the value I bring isn’t just about skill—it’s about the heart and intention I put into everything I create.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Priscilla Cabada and I am the owner and baker behind P.S. Bake Shop- an artisan cottage bakery that specializes in crafting elegant cakes and gourmet pastries made entirely from scratch and by hand. What makes my bakery truly special is the relentless dedication to carefully source exceptional ingredients, no matter the cost. I firmly believe that a truly extraordinary cake begins with what goes into it. Each cake I create is not just a dessert—it’s an experience, crafted with intention, artistry, and flavors that leave a lasting impression.
What I find most exciting about my work is the ability to bring people together through something as simple yet powerful as cake. Whether it’s for a wedding, a milestone birthday, or an intimate gathering, my cakes become part of people’s most cherished memories. I love the challenge of turning a vision into a stunning, edible masterpiece—something that’s not only visually breathtaking but also indulgently delicious. Seeing a client’s reaction when they see their cake for the first time, or when they take that first bite, is the most rewarding part of what I do.
While cakes are at the heart of my business, I recently introduced a new item that has been an exciting addition to my menu—scratch-made artisan focaccia bread. I wanted to expand into something savory to complement my sweets, and focaccia felt like the perfect choice. This Italian-style bread is rich in history, dating back to ancient Rome, and is known for its airy, chewy texture, crisp golden crust, and endless possibilities for toppings and fillings. True to my commitment to quality, my focaccia is made from scratch and follows a meticulous process—it takes at least 24 hours to rise, develop its depth of flavor, and bake fresh to perfection. I love getting creative with unique toppings and fillings that elevate the experience of enjoying freshly baked bread. Flavor options range from classic rosemary and sea salt to more unexpected combinations such as French onion, smoked Kielbasa, & Jalapeno Cheddar to name a few.
At the end of the day, I care about reaching those who appreciate the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into every creation. My goal is to continue innovating and offering products that not only taste incredible but also bring people together in meaningful ways.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, there have been many aspects that have had an impact on my journey as a baker and entrepreneur. Everything about my business has been self taught and even though I do not come from a culinary background, I learned to bake and cook from a very young age by helping my mom in the kitchen and from obsessively watching cooking shows and baking competitions for many years. I have always had a love for the culinary arts and I truly believe it’s that passion that has helped me develop the skills to be a successful baker.
Another key quality is determination. When I set my mind to do something there is nothing or no one that can stop me. I am determined to learn, to grow and to achieve anything I desire. Even if I don’t know the “how”, I confidently believe that I am capable of getting to where I want. People often ask me where I learned to design cakes and I always say I wish I had an interesting answer but the truth is I just worked until figured it out. If I don’t know how to do something I will not give up until I learn how.
I also think creativity has played a significant role in my business journey. I love to create art and one of my favorite hobbies is painting and drawing. I love to be able to express myself through art and designing cakes has become a creative outlet for me. Having the ability to visualize something intangible before it’s even brought to life is something that drives my passion to create.
At the end of the day, success isn’t just about skill—it’s about passion, perseverance, and the willingness to keep improving. If you stay committed to your craft, embrace challenges as learning opportunities, and remain open to new ideas, you’ll find your own path to success.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
One book that has played a huge role in my personal and professional development is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I’ve read it every year since I was 16, and each time, I take away something new. No matter where I am in life, this book always seems to speak directly to what I’m experiencing at that moment. It’s a timeless reminder to trust the journey, embrace the unknown, and keep moving toward my dreams, even when the path isn’t always clear.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is: “It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” This resonates deeply with me because, as an entrepreneur, dreams are what fuel everything I do. The excitement of creating something meaningful, and the journey that comes with it is what keeps me going.
Another quote that has stayed with me is: “When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” This mindset has shaped how I approach my work. I am constantly finding ways to grow and evolve in my personal and professional life. Every cake I create, every new skill I learn, and every challenge I overcome is an opportunity to grow—not just for myself, but for my business and the people I serve.
And of course another classic quote from this gem of a book- “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.” This has been a powerful lesson in trusting the process. There have been moments of doubt, but every time I push forward with passion and purpose, doors seem to open in ways I never expected.
This book has been a constant source of inspiration, reminding me to stay true to my vision, embrace the magic of the universe in every stage of life.
