Meet Dr. Jessica Mierzwa

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Jessica Mierzwa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Jessica, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Resilience comes from knowing that every challenge I face is an opportunity for growth—not just for me, but for those I serve. Growing up and working in a small rural community, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles people face when it comes to accessing quality healthcare and wellness resources. I refuse to let obstacles define the outcome; instead, I lean into faith and perseverance, trusting that the Lord equips me for every challenge. When you believe in something greater than yourself, setbacks become stepping stones, and resilience becomes a calling rather than just a trait.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am deeply passionate about helping people reclaim their health by addressing the root causes of chronic illness, not just managing symptoms. As a chiropractor and functional medicine practitioner, I focus on empowering my patients to break free from cycles of pain, inflammation, and metabolic dysfunction through personalized care. My approach integrates chiropractic adjustments, targeted nutrition, posture correction, red light therapy, and lifestyle strategies to create a foundation for lasting wellness.

What excites me most about this work is witnessing transformation—not just physical, but emotional and spiritual as well. When patients walk into my practice feeling exhausted, hopeless, or frustrated with traditional medicine, and then, weeks later, they’re vibrant, energetic, and thriving—that’s what makes this work special. Healing isn’t just about what happens in the body; it’s about restoring confidence, resilience, and hope.

I’m also deeply committed to serving my rural community because I know firsthand the challenges people face in accessing quality healthcare. In small towns, too often, people are left with limited options, and I want to change that. That’s why I take an education-first approach, offering in-person workshops, hands-on support, and monthly educational webinars to ensure my patients feel equipped to take control of their own health.

Right now, I’m particularly excited about our 90-Day Natural Health Reset Program, launching in January. This is a transformational journey that moves beyond quick fixes and fad diets—this is about real, sustainable health changes. The program has three key phases:
✅ Metabolic Reset: Jumpstarting fat loss, reducing inflammation, and balancing blood sugar
✅ Detox & Healing: Supporting the liver, gut, and hormones for deeper healing
✅ Movement & Fuel: Optimizing energy, strength, and long-term habits for a thriving lifestyle

This program is for anyone who feels stuck—whether they’re battling stubborn weight, fatigue, brain fog, or chronic inflammation. We’ve already had incredible feedback from those who’ve joined our waitlist, and I can’t wait to see the impact it has on our community.

I want people to know that true healing is possible—and that they don’t have to do it alone. My faith drives everything I do, and I believe that God designed our bodies with the ability to heal when we remove the barriers and provide the right tools. Whether it’s through chiropractic care, functional medicine, or nutritional guidance, my mission is to help people restore balance in their lives and thrive in mind, body, and spirit.

If you’re ready to take control of your health, I invite you to join our next workshop, book a consultation, or simply follow along as we share powerful insights and strategies. Your best health is within reach—you just need the right support to get there!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I would say that three key qualities have been most impactful in my journey: resilience, a commitment to continuous learning, and faith-driven purpose.

1. Resilience
Healthcare—especially in functional medicine and chiropractic—is not always an easy path. There were times I faced challenges, skepticism, and even self-doubt. But resilience kept me moving forward. I learned that setbacks are just part of the process, and if you keep your focus on your mission, you can navigate any obstacle.

Advice: If you’re early in your journey, build resilience by embracing challenges rather than fearing them. Learn to reframe difficulties as opportunities to grow. Surround yourself with mentors and a community that uplifts you, because success is never a solo endeavor.

2. Commitment to Continuous Learning
Science and healthcare are constantly evolving. What we knew about metabolism, gut health, and inflammation 10 years ago is vastly different from what we understand now. I’ve always made it a priority to stay at the forefront of research and integrate new, evidence-based strategies into my practice. This curiosity and commitment to learning have allowed me to offer my patients the most effective care possible.

Advice: Never stop learning. Read, attend seminars, take courses—whatever keeps you expanding your knowledge. But most importantly, apply what you learn. Knowledge without action doesn’t create transformation.

3. Faith-Driven Purpose
My faith has been the foundation of my work. I truly believe that God designed our bodies to heal, and I see my role as helping people remove the barriers that prevent that healing. Keeping my focus on serving others—not just as a doctor, but as someone who deeply cares—has been the most fulfilling part of my journey.

Advice: Find your “why.” If your work is rooted in something bigger than yourself, it will give you the strength to push through challenges and the motivation to keep improving. Seek alignment between your career and your deeper purpose, and everything else will fall into place.

For those just beginning their journey—stay patient, stay curious, and stay grounded in what matters most to you. The path to success isn’t always linear, but if you remain committed to growth and service, you will create an impact that’s far greater than you ever imagined.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been deepening my ability to address the emotional, neurological, and lifestyle components of healing.

For years, I’ve focused on structural, metabolic, and lifestyle-based healing, but I’ve seen firsthand that true transformation goes beyond just diet, movement, and supplements. Many of my patients—especially those struggling with chronic conditions or significant weight loss challenges—are carrying deep emotional stress, past trauma, or nervous system dysregulation that directly impacts their ability to heal.

This past year, I’ve worked to integrate more tools to support the brain-body connection, exploring modalities like HeartMath, neurofeedback, and stress resilience training. At the same time, I’ve doubled down on clean eating as the foundation of long-term health and have made it my mission to make real, nourishing food more accessible.

To help my community take action, I’ve:

Launched a weekly live cooking show on social media to show people how to prepare simple, delicious, and healing meals at home.
Partnered with a local organic farmer to source high-quality, nutrient-dense foods and encourage farm-to-table eating.
Held community events to connect with locals, build support systems, and make healthy living a shared experience.
I’ve also grown in my ability to meet patients where they are. Healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey. Some people need structure and accountability; others need grace and encouragement. Learning how to better tailor my approach to each individual has been a game-changer in how I guide my patients toward lasting wellness.

This deeper understanding has not only improved the way I care for my patients but has also strengthened my own resilience and faith. It’s been a humbling and powerful reminder that true healing is multifaceted—and that when we address the whole person, the results are life-changing.
