We were lucky to catch up with Ameira Kb recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ameira , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Both of my parents have been work-a-holics my entire life. Not only have they always had full time jobs, but they’re both business owners. Seeing how motivated and driven my parents are has shown me that anything is possible with the right drive and motivation. I come from a very talented and hard working family, which has motivated me to start my business as well as remain motivated as a young, black entrepreneur.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Ameira KB, I am the ceo of “ AMEIR “ known as “ SHOP AMEIR “. When starting Ameir, I knew that I wanted my brand to stand out and have a meaning. Ameir, an acronym for “ “ Admiring my existence in reality “ embodies what it truly means to have self love. Admiring who you are despite what’s trending, or what society tells you to be is exactly what Ameir is all about. Not only is it an acronym with an incredibly important message, it’s also a nod to my father’s name, “ Ameir “, tying our names and legacies together through fashion. My brand is my name sake and my purpose and I am incredibly proud of what I created.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In high school I had an online graphic design business called “ Glamorous Graphics “ these business and creative skills helped me in many ways. I believe that creativity is an important skills that everyone should have. I believe that your creativity makes you different. Creativity is used in many ways and I believe that it keeps things fresh. Today, I feel as though many people are copy and paste so it’s refreshing when I see an original, real is incredibly rare today. Another important skill to me as a business owner is your marketing skills, you can have a million dollar product but without the correct marketing your talent goes to waste. Finally, your communication skills are the most important skills to have as a young entrepreneur. Communication is how the world goes around and ultimately, how money is made.

The hate you give by Angie Thomas will forever be a classic for me. It’s a book that everyone should read. It shows how Black men, women, and children are treated an America. It’s a book that keeps you humble, grateful and grounded.
