Meet Damon Allen

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Damon Allen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Damon below.

Damon, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

For me, purpose has been something I’ve discovered over time through experience, passion, and service. I’ve always enjoyed sharing knowledge, mentoring, and building communities—whether through my work at UGA, my travel business, my entertainment company, or Electric Bike Group Athens. Each of these pursuits has a common thread: bringing people together, improving lives, and making a meaningful impact.

I also love making people laugh and smile. Whether it’s through teaching, planning a trip, or hosting an event, seeing people happy and engaged is one of the most rewarding feelings.

Beyond my work, my wife, Denise Allen, and our children, Damon Allen Jr. and Tamia Allen, play a huge role in my sense of purpose. They are my biggest supporters and my greatest motivation. Everything I do is driven by a desire to build a better future for them and to set an example of hard work, passion, and perseverance.

Purpose, to me, isn’t just about what I do but why I do it. I found it by following my interests, learning from challenges, and staying open to opportunities that aligned with my values. It’s a continuous journey, but every step has been worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I wear many hats, but at the heart of everything I do is a passion for bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and creating memorable experiences.

My father, David Allen, is the founder of Electric Bike Group Athens, and I’m proud to serve as its president. Our mission is to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle through cycling. We welcome riders of all backgrounds, fostering connections and making e-biking accessible and fun for everyone. Our group rides, community engagement, and advocacy for sustainable transportation are what make this journey so exciting.

In the world of travel, Kimberly Thomas, owner of Classic City Travel, helped me get started with Blue Horizons Travel. Through this business, I help people plan unforgettable vacations tailored to their dreams—whether it’s a relaxing beach getaway, an adventure-filled excursion, or a deep cultural experience.

When it comes to entertainment, Blue Up Entertainment wouldn’t be what it is without my incredible Board of Directors—Adrienne, DJ KD, and DJ Cole. Together, we provide DJ services for special events, bringing people together through music, laughter, and shared experiences. I love making people laugh and smile, and entertainment is one of the best ways to do that.

What excites me most about all of this is the impact—whether it’s someone experiencing the joy of cycling for the first time, a traveler discovering a new destination, or a community coming together for an event. Seeing people happy and engaged fuels my passion.

As for what’s new, Electric Bike Group Athens is growing, and we’re working on expanding our rides and partnerships. I’m also exploring opportunities to organize an RC car event in my town, which would be another fun way to bring people together. On the travel side, I’m working on some exciting trips for clients, including a luxury getaway to Curaçao and a proposal for a trip to Aruba.

At the end of the day, everything I do is about creating experiences that bring people joy, connection, and inspiration.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three key qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey are adaptability, relationship-building, and leadership through service.

1. Adaptability
Life and business are constantly changing, and the ability to pivot when needed has been crucial. Whether it’s navigating new technology, adjusting to market trends, or handling unexpected challenges, being flexible and open to learning has helped me grow in every area of my work.

Advice: Stay curious and never stop learning. Read, take courses, and surround yourself with people who challenge you to think differently. The more you embrace change, the more opportunities you’ll find.

2. Relationship-Building
Every business or community I’ve built—whether it’s Electric Bike Group Athens, Blue Horizons Travel, or Blue Up Entertainment—has thrived because of strong relationships. People appreciate authenticity, trust, and mutual respect. Building genuine connections with clients, collaborators, and team members has been a game-changer.

Advice: Be intentional about networking, but focus on giving more than receiving. Support others, listen more than you speak, and always follow through on your commitments. Your network is one of your greatest assets.

3. Leadership Through Service
I believe great leadership isn’t about control—it’s about empowering others. My father, David Allen, founded Electric Bike Group Athens, and I’m honored to lead it by creating a space where everyone feels welcome. In my travel and entertainment businesses, my success comes from helping people create memorable experiences. Leading with a mindset of service has made all the difference.

Advice: Focus on adding value wherever you go. Whether you’re leading a team or just starting out, approach everything with a mindset of how you can help rather than what you can get. It builds trust and long-term success.

No matter what field you’re in, mastering these three qualities will help you stand out and make a lasting impact. Stay adaptable, build relationships, and lead with service, and you’ll create something meaningful.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely! I’m always open to collaborations and partnerships across my different ventures—whether it’s with Electric Bike Group Athens, Blue Horizons Travel, or Blue Up Entertainment.

Cycling & Wellness Enthusiasts: If you’re passionate about promoting health, outdoor activities, or community cycling events, I’d love to connect and organize rides or events together.
