Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Gloor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stephanie, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
As a child and even a teenager I had a passion for taking pictures of others and my surroundings. I knew that was what I wanted to do as an adult. But, in my senior year of high school I decided to do an internship at a childcare center and that changed my vision on what I wanted to do for a career. I obtained my Associate degree in Early Childhood Education and worked in the field for almost ten years…and then I got burnt out and realized that it just wasn’t for me. I then started working in the medical field and in the midst of that I purchased my first DSLR camera. I would book clients on the weekends and work full time during the week, while still being a mother to my two amazing boys. During COVID I was furloughed for two months where I was able to work on myself and find my happiness. When I went back to work I knew what I had to do! I took the chance on myself and left the corporate world to become a full-time photographer!!! This was the best decision that I have ever made for myself. I have found that I am happier when I am doing something that I love, enjoy and extremely passionate about. It took a pandemic for me to actually find my purpose in life and to share that with everyone that I come in contact with.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I was born and raised in Thomasville, NC. I have always had a passion for photography and capturing the most special moments. After my youngest son was born in 2012 and hiring photographers to capture my moments and my children’s milestones, I decided to purchase my first DSLR camera. I put myself out there to people that I knew to see if they would allow me to take their pictures. Before long, my business grew! I became a self-taught photographer! I often look back at where I started to where I am now…and I just want to say how proud I am of myself! I am always looking for new ways to expand my business, and there will always be new goals and ideas. Recently I brought on a new partner with creative talent and she is learning the ropes as a second shooter. We are excited for what the future holds!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Determination
Inclusiveness
Empathy
Set a goal! Whether that be in your head or on paper and hold yourself accountable in the steps that you take to make things happen.
Just because someone has different views than you, you should never judge that person. Be open minded to people of different cultures and beliefs.
Be kind and treat others how you want to be treated!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I have been able to grow my business and travel to many different areas throughout NC. My goal is to travel outside of NC to different states or even countries! Having the ability and flexibility to travel greatly impacted the growth of my business in 2024.
