Meet Elissa Jackson

We recently connected with Elissa Jackson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Elissa, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I have consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic throughout my life, which I attribute to the influence of my parents, who instilled in me the value of hard work and integrity in one’s profession. Additionally, I began working at a young age, allowing me to observe others who exemplified a strong work ethic. I find it very valuable as a business owner. Without it, it would be extremely challenging for a client to trust that you will successfully complete the job.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As a local small business owner, I operate Elise Floral. In addition to managing my business, I am also employed full-time. I am a wife and mother of three beautiful children.

Being able to provide flowers to clients is a truly rewarding and exciting in experience. I am delighted to be a part of making someone’s day special. I always hope that when someone receives one of our arrangements, they recognize that creativity and care have gone into it.

I take great pride in providing my clients with a friendly and valuable experience. I continually strive to perfect my craft, aiming to deliver exceptional service. I hope to collaborate with other businesses this year and increase my community involvement.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Throughout my journey, I have found that researching, learning, and being receptive to constructive criticism have been the most impactful. I believe it is essential to continually strive for improvement. By doing so, I have acquired valuable knowledge that has ultimately benefited my business. My advice would be to learn as much as possible early on, as it will enable you to become a more successful business owner. Additionally, learning from others and observing their successes can be highly beneficial.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents gave me the gift of independence by allowing me to work during high school, which was an incredible opportunity. I earned my own money, developed a sense of self-sufficiency, and learned to prioritize my spending. Managing my own cell phone and car insurance bills taught me valuable skills and a sense of responsibility. While my friends’ parents may have been more generous, I realized that my parents’ approach was actually a blessing in disguise. It instilled in me a strong work ethic, financial discipline, and a sense of pride in my accomplishments. Looking back, I’m grateful for the experience, which has shaped me into a capable and confident individual. I appreciate my parents for helping me develop these essential life skills, and I’m thankful for the positive impact it’s had on my life.
