We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marty Peters. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marty below.
Marty, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
It started early on in life. I grew up on a small farm/ranch where there’s always work to be done. From the time I was old enough to lend a hand I was working. I learned at home that hard work, done well, completed on time was rewarded. It was often privileges like hanging out with friends and going places, getting special material things, and then an allowance, money to save, and do with as I wished. As I grew up, like most teens, I went to work for other people and businesses. It was here that it was reenforced to me that showing up on time and doing a great job would be rewarded, this time in the form of promotions and pay raises. It wasn’t until I landed in my current career path that I realized those aspects of work ethic would become a crucial tool in business. Building relationships with clientele often start by delivering high quality product or service on time and within budget. Now in business for myself I’ve learned possibly the most crucial piece of the entire list of work ethic elements is customer care, relationships with the people, treating your customers well on a personal level. It’s all necessary to succeed in business and in life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Be open, seek knowledge, adapt. I think the greatest skill a person can posses is the openness and willingness to embrace change. Change is growth, growth is an absolute necessity to succeed in life. The willingness to continue to learn also goes hand in hand with embracing change. Be humble, you’ll never know everything, there’s always something to learn. The moment you think you know it all, quit, your’e finished, you cannot succeed without the continued pursuit of knowledge. Advice? Listen. Listen to your mentors, listen to your peers, listen to those less fortunate, listen to those in the position you envision yourself in the future.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My wife. I truly believe that having a life partner, someone who can be completely honest with you in the most trying times, and can offer a sympathetic ear or shoulder to lean on without judgement, is essential to succeeding in life. Switching careers, being laid off, starting your own business, all real instances in which I may have wavered and been less successful without the constant true love and support from my life partner.
