Meet Bethany Rowan

We recently connected with Bethany Rowan and have shared our conversation below.

Bethany, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

My journey is one of profound resilience, transformation, and meaning.
Imagine standing at a crossroads—one path behind me, marked by years of dedication to education, shaping young minds and building futures. The other path ahead is uncharted, but it holds the promise of new beginnings, fresh opportunities, and a way to honor my son, Tucker’s legacy.
The weight of loss is ever-present, but instead of anchoring me in sorrow, it fuels my purpose. My career in real estate becomes more than just transactions; it’s about creating homes where memories are made, families thrive, and dreams take root. Every deal, every relationship, every property I touch is infused with a deeper meaning—helping others find a place of belonging, just as I am finding my own renewed sense of self.
I know what it feels like to have life change in an instant. I use that understanding to help those going through major life transitions—whether it’s a loss, divorce, retirement, or relocation. Real estate is often about change, and I see myself as a guide who brings stability and care to those navigating uncertain times.

I don’t just want to sell homes—I want to embody the life my son would want me to live. That means continuing to explore, seek deeper purpose, to push past fear and embrace what’s ahead. By sharing my journey openly—through speaking, writing, or even just conversations—I can inspire others to live fully, no matter what they’ve been through. This isn’t just about a career. It’s about transforming my pain into purpose, my loss into legacy. My son’s story doesn’t end with his accident—it continues through me, through the work I do, the lives I touch, and the spaces I help create.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. The Ability to Lead with Heart and Purpose
Throughout my career in school leadership, I learned that leadership isn’t about authority—it’s about service. I’ve guided students, teachers, and families through challenges, helping them grow and find success. I know how to inspire, build trust, and create a vision that others believe in. Now, in real estate, I bring that same leadership—helping clients navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives with confidence and care.

Advice to Those Early in Their Career:
Lead with authenticity. People don’t follow titles; they follow trust. Show up with integrity, listen more than you speak, and always put relationships before results. Success follows those who serve others first.

2. The Power of Building Meaningful Relationships
My career has taught me that real success isn’t just about what you do—it’s about who you connect with and how you add value to their lives. Whether it was mentoring a teacher, guiding a student, or now helping a family find their perfect home, I’ve seen firsthand how genuine relationships create lasting impact.

Advice to Those Early in Their Career:
Prioritize people over transactions. No matter what field you’re in, your network is your greatest asset. Take the time to build real connections, be a problem solver, and always look for ways to help others without expecting immediate returns. The right opportunities will come when you focus on serving, not selling.

3. Resilience and the Ability to Adapt
Losing my son was the hardest thing I will ever go through. It forced me to rebuild not just my career but my entire sense of purpose. Life doesn’t go as planned, and success isn’t about avoiding hardship—it’s about how you respond to it. My ability to adapt, keep moving forward, and find new purpose has shaped me into someone who can handle anything.

Advice to Those Early in Their Career:
Be willing to pivot. Life will throw unexpected challenges your way, but every obstacle carries an opportunity. Stay open, be willing to learn new things, and trust that setbacks are just setups for something greater. Your path may change, but your purpose will always guide you if you listen to it.

These three things—leading with purpose, building relationships, and embracing resilience—are what have shaped my journey. And they are the things I hope to pass on to others as they begin theirs.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past twelve months, my biggest area of growth has been embracing a growth mindset and learning to ask for help when I need it.

For much of my life, I was in a leadership role where others looked to me for guidance, and I took pride in being the one who had the answers. Being in a tough real estate career while navigating deep personal loss taught me that real strength isn’t about doing everything alone—it’s about being open to learning, evolving, and leaning on others when necessary.

I’ve come to understand that challenges aren’t roadblocks; they’re opportunities to grow. Whether it’s learning the nuances of the real estate industry, building a new professional network, or even redefining my sense of purpose, I’ve approached this transition with curiosity instead of fear. Instead of seeing setbacks as failures, I see them as lessons.

Most importantly, I’ve learned to reach out and ask for support—something I didn’t always do in the past. Whether it’s seeking mentorship from experienced real estate professionals, opening up to friends and colleagues about my journey, or simply allowing myself to accept help when I need it, I’ve realized that growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in community.

This shift in mindset has not only made me more resilient, but it has also deepened my relationships and helped me find purpose in the process. I now see that every challenge is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and move forward with greater strength and wisdom.
