We were lucky to catch up with Andrew Ellis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
When I’m struggling with creative block, I know it’s a matter of having too high expectations for the end result. It makes it difficult to get started when you’re constantly thinking about the gap between what you want to create and where you are at this time. So I’ll find a way to put something on the page. Fill the blank page with some form of writing, design, something. It helps get my creativity flowing. Then I adjust and mold the project to as close to my desired end result as I can.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I help creators effectively promote their products and services by crafting short, high-impact videos that capture attention and drive sales.
One of the biggest gaps I’ve noticed—especially among course creators and digital entrepreneurs—is that while they produce a lot of content, they often overlook the power of video when it comes to selling their offers. They might have hours of educational content, engaging social posts, or even written sales pages, but they don’t have a compelling video that showcases the value of their product before someone makes a purchase.
A well-crafted video can do what static content often can’t—it creates an emotional connection, builds anticipation, and makes it easy for potential buyers to see the transformation the product provides. My goal is to help creators bridge this gap by designing videos that not only look great but also communicate the true value of their work in a way that resonates with their audience and leads to more sales.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Adaptability, perseverance, and ability to learn are probably the three things that have helped me the most. I’m always looking for the next thing that’s going to help me service my clients better.
If you’re just starting out, find ways to build relationships and never stop learning. By forging more relationships and helping people with different things, you’ll be able to learn what you like and don’t like while also building a network of supporters.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I usually do one of a couple of things:
– Go for a walk
– Take a break away from my project
– Write down all the tasks
– Journal about the problem I’m having
Each option helps me in different ways, but getting it out of your head and onto paper or into the physical world really helps to see what’s going on. Ultimately, being overwhelmed may mean that your priorities also need to be looked at and adjusted.
