Meet Grant Gaspari

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Grant Gaspari. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Grant below.

Grant, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

It took me what feels like a very long time to find what my purpose is. I spent years working jobs I didn’t like and didn’t know what to do. For the longest time I worried about what I would do with my life and could never come up with any concrete ideas or plans. The combination of the right timing and injuries that ultimately led to me finding my purpose. I started making videos for fun with my friends on a couple old camcorders. I never really thought anything would come from it but as time went on I kept having more and more fun and wanted to pursue it further. I have been heavily involved with motocross, bmx and other action sports for the majority of my life and with that, comes a lot of injuries. In the spring of 2024 I suffered a bad break in my arm riding motocross and was put on the couch for a few months. With all my downtime from doing any sports I figured it was a good idea to buy a new camera and start putting more time into something that was so much fun for me. I bought a sony nx80 camcorder and started spending a lot more time filming. I was getting a lot of positive feedback from my peers and started to think that I found something I was built for. I acquired a couple clients for a little bit of side work in the coming months but was still working a 9-5. By summer of 2024, the environment at my day job was getting pretty bad and I decided to quit and go full time with videography. I haven’t looked back since and I feel like I’ve improved so much to this day and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. It’s so relieving to have found something so fun, something I’m so passionate about, and something that makes me want to keep pushing myself to be better.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I started my company Blueprint Visual a little over a year ago and my main focus is on shooting action sports, specifically motocross. Moto has been such a big part of my life and it has molded me into the person I am today. It feels very easy to go to “work” when I get to shoot things that I am so passionate about. I have been trying to shift my focus to working on more projects that are more than just a video showing the thrill of action sports. My long term goal is to shoot sports documentaries and tell the viewer a story. I’ve created a few passion projects of my own working with local up and coming athletes to share their story. These type of projects are so much fun to me and much more rewarding than anything else I’ve worked on. I have a few more of these planned throughout the rest of the year so keep your eyes peeled for some upcoming projects.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

A big thing for me is just watching videos of things you like. It may sound simple but I’ve learned so much from watching movies, short films or even edits on social media. Whether it’s learning how to shoot a certain scene from the right angle, editing tricks to enhance your video, and just to see what different film makers do to give their projects a unique look. Instead of looking at other peoples work and feeling like I could never create something as good or unique, I look at it as inspiration and try to learn from them to make my own work even better.

As corny as it sounds, getting older, experiencing more life, having setbacks and triumphs have ultimately helped me grow so much. I sometimes wish I could go back in time so I could stop myself from making so many mistakes but ultimately those mistakes made me into who I am today. Nobody’s perfect and you’re going to make mistakes in your life. It’s important to not let them destroy you and instead use it as a learning experience to strive and prosper.

I always felt lost growing up and went through some pretty dark times trying to figure out what to do with my life. It was really hard for me to see other people my age having their lives figured out and I always would compare myself to them. I’ve learned a couple things from this. One is that age doesn’t matter. Everybody goes through life at a different speed but no matter how old or young you are, if you set your mind to something you can achieve it. I have to constantly remind myself of this because it is still something I struggle with to this day. Believe in yourself, don’t compare yourself to others who seem like their doing better, and just focus on being the best version of yourself.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

My parents are everything to me. I’m extremely blessed to have such a strong, healthy relationship with both my parents and it’s definitely not something I take for granted. As simple as it sounds, my parents have always believed in me 100% and that means so much to me. There are some times when they believe in me more than I do. It’s extremely comforting knowing that they always have my back and only want the best for me. It motivated me so much to be the best that I can so I can make them proud.
