We recently connected with Pierre Guy and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Pierre, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
When I was 19 years old I left my family and moved to another country to experience life. Starting out having no money and determined to make it on my own I have had to work in a lot of different fields, meeting a lot of different people with different backgrounds, cultures and age.
I’m finding myself constantly using all of these experiences to level up my game. I have always tried to be the best and put all my passion in anything I do, but always respecting the people that I was working with and for. I guess my work ethic comes from a mix of everything that I have gone through and still am.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My passion has always been movies, and in my mid-twenties, I finally found the courage to pursue a career in the field. I first trained as an actor in Paris, France, and later in New York, USA. While I love acting, I felt it wasn’t enough, so I started learning more about filmmaking—camera work, lighting, sound, editing, and photography. That’s when I began creating short films.
When I’m making a film, I feel most alive. I enjoy every step of the process. The idea that you can have an image in your head, put it on paper, then film it and bring it to life is incredible to me—it’s the most exciting feeling.
Right now, I’m in the pre-production stage of a web series. It will consist of 5 to 7-minute short films, streaming on YouTube and other social media platforms once a week.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Persistence: time passes, and you persist—keep going, never giving up on your dream.
The Past: understanding where you come from. For me, for example, it’s the history of film. I constantly watch movies of all genres, from different countries and eras. This not only deepens my understanding of cinema but also helps me understand my own tastes—what I like and dislike. Sometimes, even in a movie I don’t enjoy, I can find a beautiful frame, a compelling scene, or a powerful piece of dialogue.
Being in Alignment with Yourself: with every decision, I ask myself, “Am I in alignment with myself right now if I say yes to this?” This can be challenging because we change constantly, but when you make choices that truly align with who you are, you can be confident that something will go right.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I have been putting together all the different things I have done and gone through in my life.
I have today gained a lot of confidence in my capacities as a creator and leader. I have a much better understanding of what I am able to do and what I want to achieve not only in a professional capacity but also on a personal level as a father and husband.
