We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shauna Dermigny. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shauna below.
Shauna, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience, for me, is something cultivated through every challenge, every heartbreak, and every moment I thought I couldn’t keep going—but somehow did. It’s those times when I ask myself, Is this just how life is? When I can’t yet see the lesson, but deep down, I know I’ll look back and realize it was all for my greater good.
I think it’s something we are all born with, but we have to choose to build on it. We either grow through discomfort or shy away from it and stay the same. In my work, I talk a lot about getting comfortable being uncomfortable because so much of life is uncomfortable. Meeting new people, learning a new challening hobby, feeling your emotions—these things can cause discomfort within us. But when we press into our edge, when we lean into discomfort rather than resist it, what’s on the other side is something incredibly beautiful. Every time we do something uncomfortable, it builds resilience.
I wouldn’t be able to guide others through this if I weren’t willing to do the work myself. One of the hardest, most uncomfortable things I’ve ever done was leaving my relationship after 17 years, during a toxic phase I couldn’t make sense of, and moving 400 miles away to give myself and my children a fresh start. No one understood what I was doing at the time, but I had to trust my gut and do the hard thing. I had a deep knowing that we deserved better.
And as it turns out, that move was exactly what my family needed to heal and come back together stronger than ever.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the founder of Magic Mama Microdosing, a company dedicated to helping women break free from old patterns and reconnect with their true selves through microdosing and integration practices.
For years, before I found these tools, my mind never stopped racing. I was erratic, paranoid, and struggling with insomnia. My thoughts spiraled, my breath was shallow, and I was constantly rushing—juggling endless to-do lists but barely getting anything done. Deep down, I knew there had to be another way to live, and I was determined to find it.
That’s when I discovered that true healing happens through the body. Everything began to shift when I started incorporating breathwork and microdosing. These tools didn’t just help me slow down—they helped me feel again. I learned how to soften into the present moment, experience life with more clarity, and move through challenges with ease. My anxiety faded, my self-image improved, my relationships deepened, and parenting became lighter.
But my journey wasn’t smooth. Healing in isolation led to some bumps in the road—including accidentally getting high on a microdose. But I kept going, refining my practice, and once I found what truly worked, I had to share it. That was the birth of Magic Mama.
Through Magic Mama, I now guide other women on this journey, offering high-quality, small-batch microdose capsules and handmade mushroom chocolates designed to support focus, energy, and emotional balance. Beyond the products, I provide education, integration support, and community, so women can navigate this path with structure, intention, and confidence.
I’m also launching the Lovers Ritual Kit, featuring ceremonial mushroom chocolate infused with love and intention, paired with a curated playlist to deepen connection and intimacy.
At the heart of it all, I’m passionate about education and advocacy—breaking the stigma around plant medicine and helping others find the clarity, presence, and expansion that transformed my life.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the most impactful skills I developed were self-trust, understanding the mind-body connection, and integration. These weren’t things I naturally had—they were things I had to look for and learn, after years of conditioning, desperation, and trial and error.
1. Self-trust & unlearning conditional love
For years, I struggled to trust myself. After experiencing years of gaslighting and being made to feel like I wasn’t smart or capable, I doubted every instinct I had. It wasn’t until I started unlearning conditional love that I realized—how can you trust someone who doesn’t love you? That applies to yourself, too. Self-trust requires self-love. You have to feel safe with yourself in order to listen to your intuition.
Rebuilding that trust meant practicing self-validation. Instead of seeking permission or reassurance outside of myself, I started tuning inward. I let my body and emotions guide me instead of dismissing them. Over time, I learned that intuition isn’t loud or forceful—it’s a quiet knowing that grows stronger the more you listen.
My advice: Strengthen self-trust by creating safety within. Speak to yourself with kindness. Honor your feelings instead of dismissing them. The more you validate your own inner knowing, the stronger it becomes.
2. Understanding the mind-body connection
One of the most empowering moments in my journey was learning that my anxiety, racing thoughts, and insomnia weren’t just in my head—they were deeply connected to my body. When I discovered that the gut is the second brain, that my nervous system was stuck in survival mode, and that all of my inner systems were connected just like everything in the universe is, it changed everything.
But I wasn’t taught this—I had to be desperate to find the answers. No one in school teaches you how to regulate your nervous system, how trauma lives in the body, or how healing has to be embodied, not just intellectualized. Once I learned that I didn’t have to fight my body, but could work with it, healing became so much more accessible.
My advice: Start with the nervous system. Before trying to force mindset shifts, focus on regulating your body—breathwork, movement, nutrition, and rest are powerful tools. A calm body creates a clear mind.
3. Integration is everything
One of the biggest mistakes I see is chasing plant medicine for the breakthroughs while avoiding the real work of integration. It’s easy to think the medicine will fix you, but it won’t. It will show you the way—but you have to walk the path.
I used to avoid talk therapy because I was afraid of what I’d find if I dug too deep. But at a certain point, you have to lean into your edge—that space where growth feels uncomfortable but necessary. That’s where the real transformation happens. Plant medicine isn’t the solution—it’s the mirror. The real catalyst isn’t the medicine itself, but your willingness to do something with what it shows you.
My advice: Integration is where the magic happens. Don’t just seek healing experiences—commit to applying the lessons they reveal. Take action, embody the change, and make it real in your daily life.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes! I’m always looking to collaborate with aligned practitioners who are passionate about deep healing and transformation. I recently partnered with a therapist to create a package combining therapy, microdosing, and breathwork, offering a holistic approach to emotional healing and nervous system regulation. This is just the beginning—I know there’s so much potential for integrating plant medicine with other healing modalities.
I’d love to connect with:
✨ Therapists, coaches, and healers who see the value of microdosing as a tool for deeper integration.
✨ Somatic practitioners, energy workers, and facilitators who want to combine their work with breathwork and microdosing.
✨ Retreat leaders who are looking for guest facilitators or microdose education for their clients.
✨ Podcast hosts, educators, and content creators who want to help spread awareness and break the stigma around plant medicine.
I’m open to both local collaborations and virtual partnerships, so if this resonates, let’s connect! You can reach me through email hello@magicmamamicrodosing.com, or DM me on Instagram at @shaunarose.love.
