Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrea Hitpas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrea, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism grows from a continuous gratitude practice. I find that focusing on the good in life fuels gratitude which fuels optimism. It’s not always easy in this crazy world we live in, but with a continuous gratitude practice, I feel more optimistic.
Yes is one of my favorite words. I think it is the ultimate positive expression. I use the Instagram handle @YesinMind which suggests thinking positive thoughts. Our words are spells, both our spoken words and thoughts create our reality, forming our relationships to ourselves, to others, and our world.
I want my brand to have an optimistic vibe. I try to express joy and positivity in my artwork with colors and flowy composition. Also, I am a Reiki Master so I infuse my artwork with Reiki energy to elevate the positivity as much as I can. I hope the energy, joy and effort that I pour into my artwork resonates with my audience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a life-long art lover from a family of creatives, I experiment with many different mediums: painting with oils, acrylics and inks, drawing with oil pastels and creating mixed-media fiber art. Currently, I am working on a series of colorful abstract paintings created with alcohol inks. This is one of my favorite mediums because of its vibrancy and unique results. I also love that they dry quickly so I can make progress in short amounts of time.
One of my favorite aspects of being an artist is creating custom commissioned artwork. Translating the client’s desires into an original piece of artwork is a rewarding process for me and for the client. My next commission is an alcohol ink painting for a recently renovated bathroom. After that I will create an acrylic painting for a little girl’s nursery. I enjoy exploring my own ideas in between commission assignments, it’s the best of both worlds!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents are both creative, artistic people and they would often talk about how they love “conversation pieces”. Over the years they collected and created conversation pieces which resulted in an interesting, unique home. For example, they completely covered a large shelf with colorful marbles. Also, my mother inherited an old fashioned piece of furniture and adhered vintage piano sheet music to every inch of the cabinet. And then my dad made a light for his billiard table out of a large stand up bass and hung it from the ceiling over the pool table. Seeing them explore and execute their ideas to design an ever changing and interesting home caused me to value and feel comfortable in strange, abnormal environments.
