Meet Angela Brown

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angela Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

I have a quote I often say for my haters, it is (MY ONLY REVENGE IS SUCCESS)! Nay-sayers will always be there to remind you that you just might fail at something especially if you are starting a business. There is something inside of me that won’t quit or give up! When the volume on their energy is loud then I tune them out and focus only on winning. I surround myself around positive people, stay in prayer and see myself at the finish line!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I have been in the beauty industry for over 38 plus years. I fell in love with the inventive side of beauty industry and loved growing hair and mixing different products together. I learned that one head of hair possibly could have at least two different textures. So, I had no clue that I would end up with my own hair care line! I started when I was 15 years old loving to grow hair at any length, then off to cosmetology school. Learning about my clients was amazing yet challenging. Hair stylist is somewhat therapist, we listen, style their hair and give advice to our best knowledge, then do it all again the next day. That became so robotic, something was missing so I wanted to write a book to challenge myself I did, and that turned into three self-published books. IT’S MO BETTER THE SECOND TIME AROUND, HOW TO GET THE HEALTHY BACK IN YOUR HAIR, lastly LOVING THE FOODS I USE TO HATE LIVING A DIABETIC FREE LIFE. Then I got the urge to develop my own hair care products, my clients encouraged me as well. So, in 2016 D’Serv Healthy/ Professional Hair Care was born. I have over 15 products now that cater to hair loss, all types of stress issues extreme or moderate, any texture along with hair tools & Maintenace products. I work with clients online or in my Hair loss salon in Collierville TN., called D’Serv Healthy Hair Salon. My products and services focus on clients with Alopecia, side effects from medications, and anyone who needs to understand their texture. I give the blueprint to hair restoration. So, in 2022 I developed a system called
D’Serv PACC Hair Loss Solution Treatment. What I learned is that people often buy products but don’t understand what works BEST for their hair, but I have the blueprint down to a science! I now have two new products being developed, that stops shedding in the shower a MIRACLE in the making! I am now on www.walmart.com I only put my top seller on the website D’Serv Damage Reversal Elixir Oil, it regrows hair & beards. This year I will be in Philadelphia May 3, 2025, sitting on two panel of discussions at the Aowie Conference founder Lisa Ascolese will have Grammy award winning singer Dionne Warwick who will be honored. All of this is wonderful, but most of all I love when I help someone achieve their hair goals even when the dermatologist says you will never get your hair back and D’Serv products and my blueprint has been life changing for customers. My God given purpose is to help people rebuild their confidence through restoring their hair because the simply DSERVE IT!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

It’s important to know if you’re solving a problem first, then do the research who will need it, then having transformations or footage of the results. My advice is to make sure you know who your competitors are and follow them if they are successful then try not to reinvent the wheel if they have paved the way. Another advice for anyone who is starting out I would suggest for you to build a team of people you understand your vision. Also keep in mind to be open minded about reinventing the wheel if things are not working out. During covid I had to take my business in a different direction ad I made more money than I ever have. Now lasting don’t keep investing of doing the same thing with your business if it has proven that formula is not working. Don’t give up but redirect your vision.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

The number one challenge is recovering from poor decisions that has caused debt. Now the best way I have gotten over this situation is to not rehire the same people or companies or anyone who resemble those people. I have learned to stop rushing into loans etc. I am making people prove themselves and I am learning more about my business and doing things that aren’t as costly. Every company needs good credit & cash flow.
