Meet Aimee Saturne

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aimee Saturne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Aimee, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
If you know me, you know that resilience is one of my key components! Being independent, especially in more than one medium, can be extremely tough. I’ve learned over time that no matter how many times you get knocked down, it’s always worth it to get back up and keep fighting for your aspirations. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and nothing worthwhile comes easily. If everyone stopped and gave up when they faced hardship, life as we know it would not exist.

I dabble in various different creative endeavors, and I handle all of them myself. Being a singer, actress, podcaster, streamer, etc. can lend itself to a lot of room for trial and tribulation, and I can’t say that it’s ever been easy.. But, I love what I do, I love entertaining and I’m just grateful to be able to do it all at once, no holds barred. At the same time, it’s taught me that not everything goes as smoothly as hoped. There have been so many times throughout my entire journey that I’ve wanted to quit; give up and do something much easier and day-to-day. But at this point in my life, I’ve never been more grateful that my resilience has allowed me the fortunate habit of brushing myself off and trying again.

Though dealing with the not-so-fun parts of making entertainment your life’s purpose can feel quite daunting, I’ve always taken those times as a reminder to keep moving forward no matter what I’m going through. I’ve also found that you tend to appreciate the things you achieve just a little more when you know you’ve gone through hell and back to bring them to fruition. You feel a sense of pride not only in the achievement, but in yourself as an artist as well.

Resilience in general is key in my industry- everyone knows you’ll hear “no” a million times before you hear “yes,” and there might be lulls from time to time. But being able to pick yourself up and know who you are and what you’re capable of, and to keep pushing on and creating despite not knowing what the future holds is the reason I’ve been blessed with so many grateful opportunities in my life. Every day I get closer to my goals, and what might feel like a setback only becomes motivation instead.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have always been involved in the entertainment industry and currently have my hands in various mediums that I love taking part in! As previously mentioned, I am a recording artist, songwriter and actress, I host my own podcast (The Saturnelia Podcast) and I livestream on Twitch!

While I was predominately only involved in music and acting for the longest time, I decided to broaden my horizons and breathe life into all of my interests. I’ve been a gamer my entire life, the hobby being something I loved to do to wind down, but I also realized that it could be a wonderful way to connect with my audience. The same notion was what brought my podcast to fruition. Touching on various topics has been a great way to get to know me, as well as to get to know others!

I love being able to share my art, relatability being something else that’s extremely important to me. I am often moved by other artists works, be it digital art, music or otherwise, and to be able to do that in my own way is inspiring. It’s so nice to be able to create things and have people either know exactly where you were coming from, or to see different perspectives. That’s the most valuable thing about art to me, it’s subjective and allows for all kinds of viewpoints- my music especially. I write for myself, but others get to feel it the way they need to in the moment, and that’s a beautiful thing.

Aesthetically, I bring a lot of elements to my image and visuals that I really love personally, like outer space for instance. In all that I create, visually especially, I like to add elements of these things to give a deeper meaning to them that really resonates with me as an artist and a person. It always makes my day to hear that people enjoy that aspect as well!

I’ve recently released a new single titled “Wear Me Down” on all streaming platforms, and have been busy preparing for a new EP release.  I’m always creating different kinds of content however, and so many new things that I get to delve into end up being surprises even to me!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’ve been in entertainment for a long time, and people always ask me this question. I will always say the same thing- dedication, drive, and resourcefulness.

With those three things, you can rule your world! Along my journey, there have been so many ups and downs, but those qualities, those mind frames, are what kept me moving forward. As artists, we are often told that we need far more than what we have to achieve our dreams, but that’s not necessarily true. What worked for someone else might not work for you and vise versa. That also goes to say that just because something worked for someone else doesn’t mean that it’s the only way it can ever work.

Being dedicated to your craft, having the drive to work at it and continue to do it despite any kind of setback or days of hopelessness, and being resourceful on your own are crucial elements. Everything I do in my artistic career, I do myself. I don’t have a team of people behind me, nor do I have exuberant finances to pull things together. I simply take what I have, and do what I can with it. Being resourceful is half the fun of creativity- it keeps you thinking about what you can do next!

When things get tough, it’s okay to take a breather, but if I have advice to give to anyone, it would be to keep going and keep doing the things you love regardless of how hard or confusing it may seem some days. You never know what’s waiting right around the corner for you, and giving up will never allow you to find out.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always looking for cool people to collaborate with! Be it in music, acting, streaming or otherwise, I’m always open to fresh takes and new perspectives on any kind of art that I can be involved in. I really love getting to work with people who share similar passions, and it’s so much fun to bring different minds and tastes together to see what we can come up with!
