We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nichole Meyer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nichole below.
Nichole, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Growing up with a single mother instilled a strong work ethic in me. My mother was an incredibly hard worker—juggling a job, school, and raising my brother and me all at once. Watching her determination and perseverance inspired me to work hard and strive for success, not just for myself but also to honor her sacrifices. One of the most valuable lessons she taught me was to never give up, but also to be patient with my journey. She always reminded me that success takes time and that being kind to yourself along the way is just as important as the hard work itself. Even though she has passed away, I carry those lessons with me every day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello everyone! I’m Nichole Meyer, the founder of Clever Social, a social media agency dedicated to helping small businesses thrive online. My journey started with a bold move from West Palm Beach, FL, to the vibrant city of Chicago, IL, in pursuit of a career in media. It wasn’t long before I landed my first role as a Freelance Social Media Coordinator for a political campaign—a role that ignited my passion for social media and the power it has to build communities and brands. That experience made me realize I wanted to create something of my own—a business that would give small businesses the tools and strategies to grow and succeed in the digital space.
At Clever Social, I’m passionate about crafting custom social media strategies that go beyond just increasing reach and engagement—they create meaningful connections and foster genuine communities. I also believe that social media should feel accessible, not overwhelming, which is why I focus on educating my clients. When they understand the ‘why’ behind our strategies, they feel more empowered and connected to their brand’s online presence.
My path hasn’t been without challenges. Losing both of my parents before the age of 22 shaped me in ways I never expected, but I refused to let my circumstances define me. I was determined to build a career and a life that I could be proud of. That same resilience now fuels my commitment to helping other small businesses grow, knowing firsthand the impact that hard work and perseverance can have.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful qualities that have shaped my career are grit, a willingness to learn, and organization—and the last one is something I’m always working on.
When I first started freelancing, I quickly realized that it wasn’t for the faint of heart. Clients can drop you in an instant, and often, there’s little you can do about it except learn from the experience and keep moving forward. My grit and eagerness to learn played a huge role in my early success. Clients were willing to take a chance on me because of how I responded to feedback—I never saw criticism as a setback, but rather as an opportunity to grow.
Organization is also key when running a personal brand or small business. There’s always something new to learn, and staying organized helps create the mental space needed to adapt, strategize, and evolve. For me, it’s been a make-or-break factor in maintaining balance and productivity.
For those just starting out, my biggest piece of advice is to develop a thick skin. You will face criticism, but that doesn’t mean you’re bad at what you do—it just means you’re still growing. Take feedback in stride, stay persistent, and keep pushing forward. The more you learn, the stronger you’ll become!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My husband has been my biggest supporter every step of the way. When I first started, I often struggled with imposter syndrome, but he was always there with words of encouragement, reminding me of my worth and abilities. Beyond emotional support, he also plays a role in the creative side of my business, always willing to lend a hand—whether it’s brainstorming ideas or helping me film content for clients. His unwavering belief in me has made a world of difference.
I truly believe that having a strong support system is invaluable when embarking on a new journey. Surrounding yourself with people who uplift and challenge you can make all the difference in your growth and success.
