We recently connected with Morgan Shuler and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
From an early age, I’ve always found myself in spaces where I stood out not just for my presence, but for my work ethic and perspective. My journey of being “the only one” started in childhood at a prestigious military-based school. Picture a young, brown-skinned girl in a sea of kids who didn’t look like her, navigating an environment that wasn’t exactly built with her in mind. High school? Same story. But instead of shrinking, I leaned all the way in.
I learned early that hiding wasn’t my thing. I made my presence known not by being the loudest in the room, but by being the most prepared, the most observant, and the most strategic. I understood that standing out isn’t just about being there, it’s about owning the space with grace and intelligence.
I stay effective by reading the room like it’s a best-selling novel. Who’s bluffing? Who’s prepared? Who needs a little extra push? I observe, adapt, and instead of just matching energy, I transform it.
See, I’ve learned the art of balance. I stay true to being a woman and lean into feminine leadership. Soft skills? Mastered. Emotional intelligence? Sharpened. I used to think being “too emotional” was a liability, but I’ve realized it’s actually one of my greatest strengths. Emotional intelligence allows you to read people, understand them, and move strategically. Turns out, awareness is power.
I’ve heard the phrase my whole life: “As a Black woman, you have to work twice as hard.” But honestly? As a woman period, you have to work twice as hard just to prove you belong anywhere outside the kitchen or daycare drop-off line. And the gag? Many of us do all of it: career, home, personal growth without breaking a sweat (okay, maybe a little sweat). We just make it look effortless.
But beyond gender and race, the real power comes from knowing yourself. We all have unique, valuable traits that make us who we are, whether we were born with them or developed them over time.
In the end, it’s not about proving a point. It’s about knowing you belong in that space and creating impact. It’s about connecting with people from all walks of life, standing firm in your skills, and making sure your presence is felt long after you leave the room.
So for those reading this, walk into that space, own that table, take that opportunity. Because you were destined to be there.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m at exciting crossroads, balancing two major projects that are close to my heart. In the realms of technology, social reform, and economic empowerment, leading two major initiatives that challenge the status quo.
First, CocheVia, a revolutionary ride-sharing platform designed to put drivers first. In an industry where major rideshare companies have built empires on the backs of drivers while paying them a fraction of their worth, legal battles are now exposing the mistreatment and financial instability these workers face. Many drivers struggle to make ends meet, while the corporations at the top collect billions. That’s where CocheVia comes in.
We’ve created a driver-centric model that allows drivers to keep 100% of their fares, rather than having a platform take excessive commissions from their earnings. This isn’t just about rideshare—it’s about economic justice. When drivers can actually feed their families, pay their bills, and have control over their income, it creates a ripple effect that benefits entire communities.
But we’re not stopping there. We’re leveraging Web3 and artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure transparency, security, and efficiency in the rideshare industry. With robust and innovative features, we strive to make the experience better for both drivers and riders. We’re taking the best of modern technology and applying it to an industry that desperately needs reform.
On the personal side, I’m also launching my book, A Griever’s Guide to Glory, next month. This book is deeply personal, touching on my own journey through loss and the process of finding resilience, faith, and purpose again. Grief is universal, yet so many people struggle with how to navigate it. My goal with this book is to provide not just a guide, but a testament to the strength we can find in even our darkest moments.
At the heart of both CocheVia and my book is the idea of transformation, whether it’s transforming industries for economic empowerment or helping people find healing and hope after loss. I truly believe technology and humanity can work hand in hand to create real impact, and I’m excited to bring both of these visions to life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, I recommend three qualities anyone can develop or improve that have been essential in shaping my journey:
1. Adaptability – Learning to Pivot Without Losing Direction
Honestly, life is like an unpredictable rollercoaster, one minute you’re up, the next you’re all over the place. I’ve learned that adaptability isn’t just about going with the flow, but about making strategic shifts. Whether it was pivoting in decisions , embracing new life experiences, or navigating the challenges of adulthood, being flexible without losing focus has been key.
Don’t get too attached to one way of doing things. The ability to quickly assess, adjust, and execute will set you apart, no matter the industry. Stay curious, stay open-minded, and remember sometimes a setback is just a setup for a stronger comeback. Delayed doesn’t mean denied.
2. Emotional Intelligence – The Secret Weapon in Leadership & Business
People often underestimate the power of understanding human behavior but in leadership and entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence is a game-changer. I’ve learned that being able to read the room, understand motivations, and communicate with empathy is what separates good leaders from great ones. Emotional intelligence has helped me navigate workplace dynamics, build strong business relationships, and lead with confidence without sacrificing authenticity.
Invest time in self-awareness and active listening. The more you understand yourself and those around you, the easier it is to communicate effectively, influence without force, and build trust. Leadership isn’t about being the loudest in the room it’s about making the most impact through clarity, confidence, and connection.
3. Ownership Mentality & Time Management – Moving Like a CEO, No Matter Your Role
No matter where I was in my career, I operated like I was the owner of my own success. Whether I was starting out, consulting, or now building CocheVia, I didn’t wait for someone to tell me what to do next, I took the initiative, solved problems, and positioned myself as a leader in any room I entered. But ownership means nothing without time management. When you have multiple priorities, businesses, and responsibilities, the ability to manage your time effectively, set priorities, and execute efficiently is what keeps you ahead.
Whatever you do, own it to the fullest and manage your time like it’s your most valuable asset (because it is). Set clear priorities, avoid distractions, and be intentional about how you spend your hours. The difference between someone who stays stagnant and someone who levels up is how they use their time.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
