Meet Joseph Robertson

We recently connected with Joseph Robertson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

The resiliency that we possess comes from life’s experiences. The ability to continue to push even when the tough gets going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Joseph Robertson. I am the Co-Founder of the Century Plus Crew based out of Brooklyn, N.Y and we are established on 10/17/2020.

The inception of this group stems from the Pandemic. I personally have been cycling well before the Pandemic, but when outside shut down it seemed that a great deal of people turned to cycling for relief, health, and overall wellness. It was a beautiful site to behold.

Since our inaugural ride to Montauk Point on 10/17/2020, we have since expanded our community and our objectives. We participate in community projects such as bike repair classes, bike skills drills, community cleaning, and donations of clothing and toiletries to the less fortunate.

The Century Plus Crew is in the process of becoming a Non-Profit 501(c)3 organization. We aspire to continue to help others, while making cycling accessible to people in undeserved communities.

We are currently entering our 5th year, and we have a year full of fun and engaging events planned for the 2025 season.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The most impactful things to note are paying attention to detail. Showing your community that you care, and that they are not just another body. Sharing your knowledge, so that the growth overall is cohesive. Cultivating a culture that will outlive the founding members of the movement.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed I take a step back to regroup. I meditate, I reflect, and most importantly I give myself grace. Sometimes slowing down the process produces the best product via creativity.
