Growing up in a humble Mexican family, I was taught to work hard and fight for my goals. I think my desire to get ahead was my family, my mother, and my circumstances when I was young. I think art was my drive and motivation. I was influenced by my grandfather who liked the arts and he taught me things about history and types of art.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Cova street art is my alter ego, it is a public identity that reflects Mexican culture and nature in society. I have been inspired by travel and the journey of my life through time, evolving with the experiences and knowledge acquired.
Over time I have gained recognition, which helps and motivates me to continue moving forward. During this time as a professional artist I have had the opportunity to collaborate with major international brands and athletes, including McDonalds, which I designed the image for a store located in San Jose, California, the city where I live. I also did an important collaboration with Stephen Curry, an American basketball point guard, and a painting for Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, among others.
My work can be found in places like the USA, Mexico, Belgium, Holland, France, and this year I will travel to Costa Rica.
My goal is to expand my art in more places and of course to do more collaborations with brands.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My most important qualities and skills if I think about it…
First of all, my favorite technique to do my work is spray paint, resilience and passion,
for those new aspiring artists and the world of street art, I think the most important thing is to believe in your project, and of course improve day by day until you find or have acquired the desired level, even today I always try to improve and acquire more knowledge of my surroundings

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

Always traveling to another country where you don’t know anything and going to work with the pressure of doing an excellent job is always a challenge. Getting the necessary resources to do the job, the possibilities, are things that are challenges for me every day. Each new trip is a new adventure.
