Meet John Cerasani

We were lucky to catch up with John Cerasani recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have JOHN with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I have a desire to be successful and win at things that I do. I learned this watching my father as a child. Even though he wasn’t in the “business” world and was a high school teacher and football coach, his obsession with perfection was something that carried on to me. It’s in my blood.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I sold my company back in 2015 and it put me a position I never intended on being in. I was able to retire and enjoy the fruits of my labor the rest of my life. After a few years of “hanging out” during the pandemic, I started feeling the desire to tell my story to the world– and, in turn, hopefully help some people along the way. The story is simple: Don’t believe the hype in corporate America and give yourself a 2000 Percent Raise by working for yourself. In essence, make yourself rich instead of the people you work for.

The message resonated with the social media audience and has turned into somewhat of a movement. I encourage people to break through any ceilings they think exist, and I show them how I did it as a guide.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1) Learn how to sell
2) Be a student of the industry, be a sponge for knowledge from your peers
3) Communicate effectively, and succintly

My advice is to treat your job working for someone else as PAID TRAINING for the company you are going to own in the future. You can polish all aspects of your personal brand, while getting paid to do it. Without this, you don’t know what you don’t know and may end up going broke in the process.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Dale Carnegie– How to Win Friends and Influence People

This is the best book ever written. One thing, particularly, that I often implement in my life is when he treats a person not liking him as a “game.” In other words, when you are around a negative person that obviously doesn’t care for you, practice lessons from the book to get them to like you. I love doing it, and it is amazing how effective these practices are.
