Meet Luna Nguyen

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luna Nguyen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Luna, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Honestly, my work ethic is deeply rooted in my desire to break free from the hardships I faced growing up below the poverty line. My parents immigrated here with nothing but a purpose to better life for their children. As a child, I witnessed firsthand the limitations that come with the financial struggles, and I made a vow to myself that I would not allow those circumstances to define my future. The drive to create a better life for myself fueled my ambition, pushing me to work harder and smarter than ever before. Every challenge I encountered only reinforced my determination to build a path out of poverty and, ultimately, break the cycle that held so many of us back. My relentless pursuit of success has always been about more than just personal gain—it has been about creating a new narrative for myself, my family and for future generations. So when I think back on all the times I worked through endless days and studied for school through sleepless nights, I know it was not for nothing.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My family immigrated to the United States from Vietnam, and I was born in San Bernardino, California. My eldest half-sister, determined to build a future, opened her own nail salon in Wenatchee, Washington. She promised our family job opportunities, so we decided to move to this small town known for its apples and orchards.

Growing up in such a small community, I always felt a deep yearning for something bigger. I knew from the start that I wanted to pursue big dreams, something beyond what I saw around me.

That drive led me to Seattle, Washington, where I expanded my career in tattooing. In 2023, I had the opportunity to open a business with my dear friend, Gray Pham. Though our small business is still growing, we have already connected with people who share our vision and values. That connection is the very heart of our studio—creating an environment where like-minded individuals can come together.

In this journey, we have met some incredible people—beautiful inside and out—whose stories are expressed through the art we permanently ink onto their skin. It is not just about the tattoos; it is about the lasting bonds we create with our clients. Tattooing, for us, is much more than a simple transaction. It’s a lifelong connection, a shared experience, and an art form that tells stories that will be carried with our clients forever.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have definitely helped me achieve success are integrity, confidence, and discipline. Integrity has guided me to always stay true to my values, even when faced with difficult decisions, ensuring that I remain trustworthy and authentic in every aspect of my life. Confidence has given me the courage to take risks, seize opportunities, and trust in my abilities, even when doubts arise. Discipline has kept me focused, allowing me to stay committed to my goals and work consistently toward them, no matter the challenges I face. Together, these qualities have been the foundation of my personal and professional growth.

For those who are new in their journey in any endeavor, these three qualities will be the best pieces of knowledge to strengthen and improve your success!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

Last year, I struggled with anxiety and imposter syndrome, but now, I feel much more in tune with myself than I did 12 months ago. I can confidently say that I am happier because I have learned to value my own self-worth. Not only has my sense of self-worth grown, but so has my mental health. I have a deep confidence in my work and in everything I stand for, so I have realized that comparing myself to others is the ultimate thief of joy.
