Meet Cassandra Lomax

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cassandra Lomax a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassandra, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Growing up, I had the privilege of being raised by a Pastor and First Lady, which naturally placed me in the spotlight as part of the first family. My Granny Lemons always reminded me to “Be a leader and not a follower,” a principle I’ve carried with me in everything—from the way I carry myself to how I present myself to the world. My Papa Lemons reinforced that by teaching me to “be sweet” and constantly encouraging me. He showed me that confidence and boldness mean little if your spirit isn’t kind and genuine. These values, instilled in me from an early age, shaped my self-esteem and allowed me to move through life with both confidence and grace.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I recently joined the team at The Dawning Firm, a brokerage specializing in Real Estate, Management, and Investing, as the Social Media/Marketing Executive. What excites me most about this new venture is the opportunity to scale a business and push the boundaries of what we can achieve. Coming from a well-established company, I will always honor my roots and the lessons that shaped me. In a previous response, I shared how I was raised, but one thing I didn’t mention is a piece of wisdom from my Granny Lemons: “Don’t half do anything!” That mindset defines me—I’m either all in or not at all. I’m thrilled to bring that same energy and commitment to The Dawning Firm and help take it to new heights.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’ve always believed that to become great, you must study the greats—and never stop being a student. Growth is a lifelong process, and there’s always something new to learn. Even after earning their title, doctors continue their education through CME (Continuing Medical Education) courses. The same principle applies to any field—we should all commit to continuous learning and improvement.

The three essential skills I live by are: Be Coachable, Stay Humble, and Always Keep Learning.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Personally, my family. Professionally it has been Alicia Tiereny and Andy Dielmann.
